tail dropping?

Just curious what makes a leo do this? I know if you grabbed their tail, or dropped something on it, but anything else? Its the one thing Im paranoid with Turbo. lol

Hi,

I believe that stress from handling as well as mating are often causes of stress. The stress of handling (I think) is more often seen in younger leos.

A good fright as well....I know with fat tails its the case anyway....

I just about died when I was cleaning the tank one day and accidently knocked a candle holder into it right next to my male white stripe and he dropped his tail... pretty traumitizing for all involved. He is fine now, tail regrown and he's spunkier than ever....

The thing is, it never even hit him, just landed next to him....

A good scare for sure, Ive only had 1 baby drop the tail and it was when I misted her the first time, must have scared her, she went one way and her tail the other.

I have 2 females that the male bit off the tip of the tail when mating.

I didnt know just something scaring them. I think Ive gotten lucky with Turbo. I was moving something in his cage, and touched the light. I got a burn and the light popped. He freaked lol I got him out before he touched any glass and cleaned his tank.

The last time I misted him, he was hilarious. He would jump and try to bite the water...

Im gonna tell hubby to be easier when he picks him up too. I dont think Turbo likes him and I dont want him to drop his tail if he gets scared from my hubby....
