Talking Earth eclipses the sun in this stunning image

Jeffrey Van Camp Jeffrey Van Camp – Fri Apr 1, 4:30 pm ET

NASA has released a new image of the sun from March 29, 2011. The portion of the sun that’s covered is actually the Earth. This photo was taken by the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), a spacecraft that orbits the Earth at a distance of 22,000 miles. 72 minutes a day the SDO witnesses the sun being eclipsed by the Earth like this. In February, two NASA probes also gave us our first simultaneous shot of the entire surface of the sun, all 360 degrees. High resolution versions of this image can be found on Flickr. It’s strange, but our sun is a bit creepy when you look at it.

Creepy is being conservative.... Here's this HUGE burning ball that our world is spinning around that even though it is 93 million miles away, can cause burns on your skin if you are exposed too long to the rays. See all the stars at night? Those are burning balls as well. And guess what? Sometimes they go and explode....

All of life on this planet is dependant upon that big burning ball being STABLE and CONSTANT. And there isn't a darn thing that guarantees that, nor any darn thing we could do about it if it turns out that it isn't.
