I think I will stay away from sashimi, sushi

at least for some time. Anything coming from the waters in this area.

Heck, with the gulf and now Japan, I don't think I'll be very interested in anything coming from salt water anytime soon. I think I'll stick to landlocked fresh water sources. I prefer fresh water catfish anyways.

Damn.....I usually treat myself to a sushi/sashimi lunch once a month (just too expensive to do it more often). Guess I'll have to ask the origin of the fish before I order.

Yeah.... I know that much of the blue crab harvest that is sold out of Maryland really comes out of Louisiana, so I've had to suppress my appetite for that form of seafood. I thought perhaps I could replace it with some remedial doses of Alaskan king crab.

So much for that idea....

You should do that anyway. ;-) Do you know about the Monterey Bay Aquarium sustainable seafood list? It's really useful, I read it all the time. I have the luxury of getting most of my protein through my own hunting and fishing endeavors, but I am extremely picky over what I buy in the store.

Oh no! Sushi is my favorite thing in the world!

And OMG how could radioactive anything not be a health concern?

makes me a sad panda. I really enjoy sushi. I've tried to avoid tuna just because it's being so heavily overfished :/

Not all tuna is overfished. There are sustainable tuna fisheries. Just don't ever, ever buy bluefin.
