not a leopard gecko, but almost!

I got my first hatchling Coleonyx v. variegatus from WC parents. They look a lot like leos, only much smaller. To give you an idea on the size of this little cutie, the eggs are about as big as a Jelly-Belly candy.

What a cool, cute little guy you have there Marcia. Seems like not too many people are breeding banded geckos. Definitely keep us posted.

Desert Bandeds

Thanks! I really like these little geckos. Since I am disabled, it is difficult for me to get out and do any field herping, but the parents of this little hatchling were found under some debris in the Mojave Desert little over a year ago. The male was quite a bit larger than the female, but now she is larger than him. He is pretty skiddish, but the female is very tame.

Their skin/scales are very fine in texture and they feel like velvet to the touch. I keep them just like I keep my leos, and they keep breeding and laying eggs, so I must be doing something right!

Awww...

Do the hatchlings scream and hiss like baby leos do?

screamers!

Yes, they do scream! Even the adults will... especially my male who was older when I found him and is still not very tame. The mother is quite tame, but will 'chirp' at me if she doen't want to get handled. I have no idea what I will do with these offspring...
