Opinions on Neil's banning.

spam_ spam_ It would, as of this posting, appear the majority of voters are glad to see Neil gone....and you can count me among them....his hypocrisy, combined with his attacks on ANYONE who either questioned him or disagreed with him had been going on for way too long...much less his, "I'm the BOI Board Cop!" attitude.....how many people on this site did he jump on/insult for not "following the rules"?....to be banned from his beloved bully pulpit for the same offense is poetic justice.

Well, I just discovered Neil was banned upon reading this thread, hense my own delay in responding to the survey. &nbsp;I do imagine that there are some who will not post because they do not wish to be blasted by his fans or detractors - fortunately, I'm not one of them. <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;I won't say I am overjoyed that anyone was banned from using this site because it is such a useful tool in the industry but neither am I sorry that I don't have to continue to read his often disruptive and insulting posts. &nbsp;

Above and beyond the arguments between Neil and Dave, there was the repeated admonishments from the Webslave to follow the rules of the board as well as common courtesy. &nbsp;The Webslave did the only thing he could have under the circumstances. &nbsp;Rich is fair in his dealings from all counts I have ever seen or read about. &nbsp;The rules of this board are quite simple and should be easy enough to follow. &nbsp;Neil evidently did not feel the rules applied to him though they certainly applied to everyone BUT him in his own often rudely stated opinion. &nbsp;His excuse that he is a New Yorker and that somehow that fact excuses his often brusque and rude demeanor holds little weight. &nbsp;There are too many people from New York who are capable of being polite and professional for that theory to hold water.

He may well have the best customer service and best animals in the industry (at least in his opinion), however, that does not excuse his behavior on these forums. &nbsp;He did more to damage his reputation in my book, and that of many others, with his attitude in his posts than any bad guy post from someone else about him could have. &nbsp;On the same token, I would not be against seeing him allowed to post again PROVIDING &nbsp;he can follow the rules of the forum, though I have doubts he is capable of doing so. &nbsp;All in all, I'm glad to see he is gone, at least until he can learn proper etiquette and professional behavior.

If my opinions offend anyone, so be it. &nbsp;They are at least politely stated and devoid of profanity or insults.

Its like this...you get in a fight -you get in trouble
you speed -you get a ticket
you fool around -divorce
you steal and get cought -jail
you lie-you get disrespect
you kill and get cought -jail
you slander someone -lawsuit
Do you get the idea, Neil broke the rules and was warned many times, hell he was even given a few breaks from the webslave. Neil for his ever infinite wisdom chose to ignore those warnings and was banned.
I talked to Neil a few times[e-mail] he knows what he did was wrong, and I am sure he wants back in. That is for the webslave to decide and him only .
Neil ,I know you can still read this site , so just so you know I am not defending you or condemning you.
In my mind as I said to you before the jury is still out on your situation with your store[ya know the theft and such]
I can give you credit for having some good reviews and providing some 'comic relief'

A few people in this thread have apparently implied that it does no good for we the site users to give our opinions on this matter because it is the webslave alone who determines what the outcome will be. You guys are dead wrong on that one, and I mean no disrespect to the webslave. Sure I know Richie can pull the plug on any of us, I also know that he can pull the plug on the whole site AND YES THOSE WOULD BE HIS DECISIONS. Yet we all do have a voice in this, afterall where would any web site be if it did not have users! I think Richie realizes this point very well indeed. He often asks for our opinions on touchy subjects dealing with how to run things. I am also certain that he reads all of these posts when he has the time, especially in a thread as important to the site members as is this one seems to be.

Does anyone really doubt that Richie will read this stuff and that he will then quite possibly base his future actions on the ideas expressed herein. I am not saying it will definitely be that he thinks 'hey so and so had this idea and it was great and I'll use it'. Maybe, more likely anyhow, he will see an idea that many of us may share - such as the possibility of letting Neil back in (just an example). If enough people are leaning that way or the opposite - don't you think that will help Richie make some decisions. I think it quite possibly could. The squeaky wheel gets the oil - of course as long as it does not squeak too much and get thrown out only to be replaced! <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

At the time, I felt the choices I gave for the voting would represent most everyone's opinion on the matter. &nbsp;If you think that I made this to try to hurt Neil or to start trouble for Neil, you're wrong. &nbsp;I have no problem w/Neil. &nbsp;I like a lot of things about Neil. &nbsp;I am sad that he got banned, but I'm not going to say that he didn't break the rules and there were not grounds to ban him.

If anything, I would call your response just that. &nbsp;

Please explain what is inappropriate about this, as I think that it has generated a lot of well-thought out opinions and has shown each side well. &nbsp;I was curious to see what everyone thought of Neil getting banned, because I never thought it would happen. &nbsp;And, so far I have gotten just that. &nbsp;Also, the moderator asked that any more discussion about this should be in this forum.

I stated at the begining of this thread that if your opinion is not represent in any of the choices that I have put up, then feel free to state it below.

I'm sorry. &nbsp;I had no ill-intentions when I started this thread, and I don't know why you think that I do. &nbsp;Please explain....

Boy you surely seem upset &nbsp;to make a statement like you did in your quote above. I did not think the choices of the poll were to good either, so I added my own comments. I tried to give my view and remain civil at the same time. Now what is wrong with someone asking for opinions on this subject? I just don't see anything wrong with it, and it does seem, to me anyhow, that intelligent and thoughtful answers were given for the most part. Of course, there was one reply that started calling things &quot;lame... uncalled for... worded poorly...&quot; (although 'poorly worded' would be the better way of writing that if you truly want to play grammar games). The same post went on to sort of bash the creator of this thread by saying the thread was &quot;...nothing more than an attempt to stir a turd&quot;. Boy I wonder who could have posted, what was in my opinion, that less than civil, flame throwing, bait trolling post. Oh it was you - wasn't it!

I don't understand why, when people are having an intelligent communication about something, someone has to come on in and start throwing mud at the participants and try to make them look dirty. It is not we the participants in this online discussion who were banned from posting, so why attack us. Is it because we were making sense? Is it because you like to fan the flames so to speak? Is it because Neil is your buddy? Whatever the reason, your comments were, in my belief, totally uncalled for, rude and inappropriate. It really is a shame that things cannot be discussed on these forums without someone having to go and screw it all up just when it seemed to be civil and intelligent on both sides of the issue.

Why not make a more appropriate addition to the thread if you have something worthwhile to say?
