I too was somewhat disappointed....
I went mainly to chat with friends who were either vending or going to be there. The $10 price of admission to get in this show was insulting, and yes, I still paid, but the fact that I can get into the Daytona show for the same price for the whole weekend is quite absurd.
And to also pay $10 to see one guy's table that was filled with plenty of wild caught animals, when the show flyer gives the impression that it would be captive bred only, was also disturbing and insulting as well. Due to this, the fact that there was a bigger chance of me taking home something to give to my collection ( and I don't mean another snake ), was pretty much thoughtless on the promoter's part. Things CAN spread. In my opinion, very disrespectful towards the customer who paid to get in what he thought would be a captive bred show. When you go to a show that has both captive and wild caughts and you are led to know this, then you know the chances and risks. When you go to a show touted as captive bred only, like this one has you believe on their flyer, you should be in somewhat peace of mind.
If anyone wants to go to a great show in TX, the best one in my opinion is the one day ETHS show in Houston coming up on Sept. 10. To the best of my knowledge, the promoters there really make an effort to make sure all animals are in great condition and no wild caughts are to be sold. And to top it off, it has never been near the price of $10 to get in, usually $6.
If the promoters of this show are reading this, please don't consider my post a slam, but something to think about. If you appreciate those that paid you money for you to continue what you have set out in your career to do, then you should perhaps lend an ear here.
Take care!
