Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Sulcata's eye won't open
I have a 3.5 inch Sulcata that is having trouble with its eye. It looks like it is swollen. I have had it 2 days and was told soaking will fix the problem, though it is slightly open, it is still not back to normal. I soak him 2 or 3 times daily for 10 to 25 minutes in warm water. Other than the eye, he is active, eats like a pig and uses the bathroom at least once a day. Any ideas on what is going on?

A common reason this happens is either Vitamin A deficiency or not having proper access to UVB. Either way a vet check would not hurt anything

How Do I give him more vitamin A? I'm not sure if he had UVB before me, but he does have one now. I was told he is a year and a half. But he is so tiny!

Hi Kristen. Yes, soaking will do him/her good. Also, lots of heat. As long as your animal is eating, drinking, and active you will be okay. There are eye drops you can purchase for her. If you notice the animal stops eating or drinking, take him/her immediately to the Vet.
