Fellow reptile enthusiast, I write this response due to recent events of fraud. I have been in this hobby well over 40 years and I pride myself in treating people the way I would like to be treated. In the last 2 months on this forum I have been robbed in excess of $7400.
This is tough to share as its actually embarrassing and I pride myself in the fact that I ask the right questions prior to completing a transaction. I write this to remind folks that there are straight up thieves that don't give a d... about our community and are only interested in stealing your money.
I'm sharing the information of the 2 transactions I made in a effort to keep one of you from making the same mistake. I will also provide a few picture of the animals I was purchasing, if you recognize the individual in the photo I would love to know who he is.
First individual
Steve Celestino, he is from Las Vegas with his family in AZ. Kid was selling Kims and a Sulfer monitor, provided pictures with details I asked to be in the photo to prove he had the animals. Ended up he was scammed on a indo shipment which he used my money to broker. Still says he will refund my money when he gets it back...yeah right!!!
Second individual called himself Tom Carlton, but the money was paypal to his son Robert McNabb, I spoke to him on the phone and he is super knowledgeable about the hobby. Rattled off a couple of very trusted names in the hobby (Chris Murray, John A.). Money was sent to
reptilecity780@yahoo.com guy sent me a text saying he sent the animals, then blocked all my calls. I call on my wife's phone it rings but no answer. His number is 504-384-3204.. if anyone recognizes the guy in the pics or pictures please let me know.
Be careful out there the world is full of thieves and they are getting smarter!!!
