[Wanted] Bog Hatchlings

Anybody sale Bog turtle Hatchlings or yearlings?

You may want to check your state laws about having Bog turtles. I'm pretty sure there a illegal to own?.

Given the posts on that account (the last post of which was looking for diamondback terrapins, also protected in NC) you know the turtle laws in your state.

Read closely: it says collected or taken - a few states like Michigan allow ownership of if purchased from out of state breeders , however I have not seen or heard of anyone breeding Bog turtles ???!

"Take" often means "possess" in legislation. It does in NC:

"It is unlawful to take or possess any endangered, threatened, or special concern species at any time."

Also, any exchange whatsoever of protected species in NC is specifically prohibited:

"(a) It is unlawful:

(1) To take, possess, transport, sell, barter, trade, exchange, export, or offer for sale, barter, trade, exchange or export, or give away for any purpose including advertising or other promotional purpose any animal on a protected wild animal list"

Actually, habitat loss and alteration is the primary reason bog turtles are critically endangered. Highway mortality and illegal collection are also factors.
Not “people like” James, who made it clear that he is interested in captive bred specimens.

Any endangered or threatened species of concern are illegal to own or possess in North Carolina, such as the bog turtle. They're illegal in North Carolina.
