kelli did use shelves as an incubator but it was in her closet and in her closet was a heater attached to a thermostat... she basically made the closet into a incubator.. and she also put them in a place that had very constant temps

Kelli told me that originally they were just in her closet...no heater and thermostat. She said she added those later.

I could be wrong but I believe Stina was referring to the first couple of seasons that I bred leos. I just set the deli cups on high shelves in my closet. It took a long time for the eggs to hatch but I never had a single kinked tail or deformity. And I am sure the temps fluctuated some! I'm of the opinion that gradual temp fluctuations (slight nighttime cooling etc) won't cause problems.

Of course, I prefer using incubators and thermostats these days, better safe than sorry, right!

Thanks Kelli...that's what I was referring to. I think part of my problem was that I had had to move the eggs a couple of times to different locations from where they were originally...but as I said...I do have an incubator now!

Well, the closet where I incubated my first leo eggs was a completely different one, it was at my parents house when I lived with them. I would have turned it into an incubator if my Mom would have let me, but she said she didn't want her house turned into a "reptile breeding factory" (her exact words LOL).

The closet I turned into an incubator is in my house now. And it isn't an incubator anymore, it is just a closet again. I decided not to incubate my eggs in there anymore after I got rid of my tarantula collection.
