Mourning gecko collection- types A, B, & D
My entire collection of mourning geckos is going up for sale. I have types A, B, and D (see photos) in sizes from hatchling on up to producing adults. Type A is the standard mourning gecko most often seen for sale. They fire up to a milky brown, and fire down to an almost unicolor white. Type B has bold markings on the anterior and posterior, and type D has two rows of bold spots. Types B & D ("Hawaiian" mourning geckos) are less common in the hobby, and are considered more valuable.
Mourning geckos are active, spunky little geckos that do well in planted vivariums. They can be kept in groups, and will chirp and squeak at each other, as well as their keeper. They are loads of fun to watch, but definitely not easy to handle. They’ll eat a variety of small insects including crickets, dubia, fruit flies, and bean beetles. They also do well on powdered diets, such as Pangea. I feed mine rotating flavors of Pangea, as well as insects. Of the tiny gecko species in the pet trade, mourning geckos are arguably the easiest to keep.
Mourning geckos are parthenogenic. They are (usually) all female, and don’t require a male to mate. They produce eggs consistently all year long, as long as they are properly kept and fed.
