Question boa constrictor question

never had a big snake before so i wanted to get a boa just to keep like a pet. i wont feed it any extra to get it bigger, i just dont want a little bitty snake. y think 4.9 ft by 1.8 ft would be a big enough enclosure for one?? (going to build it myself) i have heard that melamine would be the best stuff but what should i line the bottom with so the crap/piss wont get everywhere all under the bedding and stuff. and would i have to seal the little cracks where the wood would meet together? Any other boa care comments would be nice

Melamine is okay...but you definitely have to seal the joints. Moisture, whether from the urates or routine cleaning, getting to the underlying particle board will cause it to swell.

4ft x 2ft is a common size for boa cages, so 4.9 x 1.8 would be acceptable (a little extra length, a little less depth - it all works out)
