Hmm, good question. I just today took note of other people bumping classifieds, so I hadn't thought of it much.

I know I wouldn't be too keen on bumping my own ads...at least, not replying to my own ads to bump them up. I'm too self-conscious for that, and I'd feel like I'm screaming for attention. I don't quite know how it works here, but if modifying the original post bumps it back to the top, then I'd prefer to do that instead of replying to my own ad over and over just to bump it up to the top.

As to other people bumping, I agree with Uroboros. I don't see a problem with people bumping good sellers/breeders if they think the breeder/seller deserves it. Bumping someone else's ad just to bump their ad up (with no indication they know the person or support the person) is just dumb. If bumping other people's threads catches on, though, I can see where cliques of friends could form and just start bumping each other constantly to the top. That would get really old really fast.

But bumping someone you respect to try to give them more attention, I have no problem with...and would actually encourage to a limited degree.

Umpin' and Bumpin' and Thumpin'

The classified section should be comment free. There should only be ads there. There are other places one can look to read about their record as a seller. The only ones who should be able to bump their ads are the people who place them. Perhaps even that their should be a limit. Like say only a mximum of 1 bump per day and an ad not be bumped more than three times total. The classifieds should be for people who have something to buy trade or sell to post on and only the ad posters should be able to bump. Any other types of posts dont belong there.

Y'know, that's a great point. Why have comments there at all? If someone is interested in the snake(s) listed, they can PM or e-mail the person. Additionally, since contributing members can bump their own posts without having to reply to it, this could add more funding to the site in general (since it's in dire need of it right now).
