Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.
I've noticed that quite a bit of the coconut stuff sticks to their skin; especially when the skin is pulled inside-out during shed. It seems the inside-face of their skin is like magnets to the coconut medium. Is this really safe? My leos are eating quite a bit of the medium along with their shed.
Now, I'm putting a piece of paper towel on top of the medium to avoid direct contact, but I don't like it, it makes the misting very messy. Am I the only one to have this problem?
That is a good point I never thought of. I use organic potting soil, and peat moss mix in my lay boxes.. and wet paper towels in my humid hides though. I do use a sand coco mix in my aussie geckos cages though - never had a problem with it. Even if it was ingested, doesnt seem like there would be too much harm. If there was TOO much ingested, then you would see it in the stools.
