In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

It seems no matter who's website I'm on, there is always somebody that fills up all the space on the first page with their classified ads. It is annoying, and unfair to others who have posted ads. Why can't people just consolidate their merchandise or available stock under one single ad with a catchy title containing a short list the various morphs? It would be much easier and less time consuming to post pics of several reptiles on the same ad than to post separate ads for every animal you have for sale. Not to mention, it gives others a chance to get their ads seen somewhere other than the 3rd page.

I have mixed thoughts about that.

Pro- Will allow other ads to be seen easier.
Con-Will allow other ads to be seen easier. J/K:)

Con- I as a customer when looking at ads will general skip ads that don't have the animal I'm looking for in the topic line. You can't really see a list in the topic line.

I do see your point. As you knwo I usually do just that myself. Unless I have a few animals I woould like to draw attention to.

Most of the time you will see all my animals listed in one ad. Or atleast all pythons in one and then boas in another.

I'm usually a little more bothered by the folks who put the same ad in as many categories as possible- stretching the boundaries and definitions of the sections or sometimes flat out ignoring them.

I would have to say this is my biggest nit pick also.

Marcia, I think its considerate of a poster to limit the ads placed to maybe 3 a day not 6 or 8. and when bumping ads also try and be thoughtful to the other posters and maybe bump those ads once a day instead of 3 times a day. I like 1 ad per snake because it is clear what you are trying to sell and not make someone look over a long list. just my thoughts on this, know what your talking about. ;)

It depends on what I am selling...I don't run more than a few ads per category at a time, anyway, but when I do -
I generally will not mix different species/locales within an ad because it is too hard to attract the people that are looking for a specific animal. (ie recently I had separate, concurrent ads for a Hog Island boa, a Caulker Cay boa, and a Peruvian longtail boa)
If I am selling a number of similar animals (same morphs, holdbacks/leftovers, normal BPs, etc) I post all the pics of that group within the one ad.

That said, I know what you mean...seeing 7-8 different concurrent ads (from the same seller) for individual normal BPs, or whatever just makes me not look at the page.

As much as I hate Kingsnake, I think their thing with 3/day per catergory is a pretty reasonable practice. That gives everyone a chance to get a piece of the action so to speak. I definately agree that posting the same ad in like 40 sections is irritating. Like with Anacondas, you'll find them in boas, other boas, and then again in like other snakes... just list it in other boas where it belongs! Just my opinion, Dan M.

This is exactly what I am referring to! When people do this, I just close the classified page.

I don't close the classified page, but I do skip over every single add on those who try their darndest to take up the whole page at once. In my opinion it is rude and personally I have no intentions on buying from them in the future just from those actions (ok those and several other actions but...).
Is it just b/c it is pipping season, I don't remember it being this bad before?

WTH!
If you are selling a bunch of pastels, why can't they all be put in one ad? Why would you need multiple pastel ads?
Same goes for females. If you are selling a bunch of females, why not put them all in one ad instead of listing half a dozen seperately?

Especially considering that most people use the default settings here IE number of post per page. It pisses me off and I have mine set to 30 or 50 or somewhere there abouts post per page.

Might be an idea to bring this up with the party or parties most guilty of this and ask them to stop. If that doesn't work well then I'm sure the folks here can think of something that might help bring them to their senses..Randy

I know. I took a screen shot of the PB Classifieds index yesterday where a particular person had posted at least 6 ads in a row for individual snakes that could have easily been consolidated into just a few ads. I decided it wasn't worth posting it.

OK. Here 'ya go...

Well, I gave him a Karma ding, not sure that he will care, but I was polite with my comment. I think he was trying to prove a point to a certain other poster; regardless all he accomplished was pissing off other people!

That is not a normal advertising strategy for Ben - it may well have been in response to "the Rickster's" 12 posted ads. :shrug01:
