:iagree: I think it's especially important since she's recently been imported. You have no way of knowing anything about her health.

She's beautiful, though. Good luck with her and her eggs:) .

Couldn't agree more! Photoshoots with exisiting animals is risky.

Beautiful animal, I hope that she is able to adjust to captivity.

Hey,
First I want to agree with everybody about the quarantine deal. It is a must especially with a WC animal. There's a big thing relating to another collection getting blown up by a disease on the BOI right now. Also looks like she has the chocolate look to here without any black scales. I have a male just like that. I'm gonna try and breed him next season. He's not quite big enough yet. J and J seem to have some pretty good deals. I got a harlequin looking male from them this year. He will have to grow until next season as well. Wish you luck with your female. Later Mike

I know it can be tempting to take pictures of a new animal with one from your existing collection, but if you do that it defeats the purpose of quarentine especially if you're dealing with a WC animal. Imports may have been exposed to God knows what, and they're stressed so their immune systems are probably compromised.

In order for quarentine to work, you have to be really careful. NO contact at all, no sharing equipment, care for your existing collection before handling the quarentined animal then wash your hands and change your clothes. Just being together for a few minutes for pictures is long enough to spread diseases. Then, you put the exposed animal back with your collection and risk infecting them. I don't think it's worth the risk for a few pics.

Your quarantin at this point is almost pointless. You already exposed an existing animal and then placed her back into your collection, possibly exposing the rest of them. I would still continue with quarantin but refrain from this sort of activity in the future.
 
I have been excited and taken pics of new snakes with animals from my collection in the past. The mistake you made was not putting BOTH animals in a quarantine room after the pics.

Nice looking female. I'm in agreement with what was said about the quaranteen. In fact now I would probably put these two animals in quaranteen in the same room apart from your other animals. Don't take the darker one and house it back with your collection again; although I bet I'm too late with this last recommendation.

Trust everyone when they say what they're saying -- I had to learn the hard way...and my new addition never even touched any existing snakes. Just being in the same room was enough. Now I have lost 6 snakes to a thus-far incurable respiratory virus. Yes, a virus. I don't want to see anyone else go through this.

Like others said - that's not quarantine - the animal in the photo with the new animal has been exposed.
 
Next time.. just take separate photos and photo shop them side by side..

ESPECIALLY with an import..

*shakes head sadly*

As they said.. yes it is tempting.. but is it worth the risk? WHY do you quarantine? think about it .. and then think about what just 2 minutes may have done with other snakes..
