Hello all. I am posting here today to apologize to everyone in general and several in particular. I hope that I do not forget or miss anyone. To Andy and Seth: You were right and I was wrong in my practices and sales. I had salamanders and Eastern box turtles as well as several other adds that were against the local policies. The rules are very clear on local wildlife and I made a mistake. We did try and sell some things brought in the store buy our friends/customers. This will not happen anymore.
To everyone else on the board and the internet, learn from this case and know your local regulations.
I am a biologist and should have known the local ordinances. As to the venomous, i had a permit and let it lapse. My permit ended in October 2007. I will try and renew now. Because of this, I was not legally allowed in my county to display the venomous that I did. You guys were right. I never did any of this maliciously or for shear profit. It was a mistake one that we will right. This shop will no longer take in any animal from our ecosystem and will no longer carry baby turtles for any reason.
To those that got to the exotic animal shows, PLEASE read and comprehend your local regulations as well as common sense before purchasing whatever strikes your fancy at that moment.
Lastly, any wrongdoings by OFF THE ARK may be attributed solely to me and not to any of our employees. Please keep them out of any conversations/diatribes in this or any forum. It is not their responsibility to know the local regulations, that is my job.
I am sorry that my friends were involved in these circumstances. Do not hold any malice to them, they are just being good friends.
