In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Possibly free Russian tortoise. It was recently given to me by a lady whose daughter went off to college and left her with the tortoise. She seems to be in good health, but I am a fish guy, not a tortoise guy. I have kept them before but I am looking for a good home for her. She is active and loves to be outside.
To qualify for the "free" part I will need to know how you will keep her and what level expeience you have. I do not want her resold!!! If I wanted to I could resell her to some schmuck for $50 bucks and never see her again. This is not what this is about. I want the best home and care possible, even if I have to keep her to do it.
Please remember that this not a resellable pet. I would appreciate comments on the best course of action to this adoption.
Oh, and I will not ship. Don't even ask.

Yes, I seen that you are located here in MI after I sent you a PM did you get it?
Is the tort still available? If so could you send a pic of her?

I am looking for a nice tortoise to add to my herp collection. I am putting a small collection together to keep as pets but also to take to local schools and libraries to enlighten people of all ages about reptiles and amphibians. Your tortoise could be a highlight. I live north of Detroit, but could make a business trip this week to Grand Rapids, Tuesday or Wednesday. I think this could be a good home to your tortoise... Would a situation like this work for your little guy?

I just want to commend Mr. Wertz on a few things -

1. Taking in a 'free' animal because you're able to care for it properly until it's in a permanent home. We all know that free really means paying for supplements, housing costs, feed, etc.

2. Realizing that you don't have the desire to keep the animal, and putting out effort to rehome him rather than send him off to the closest rescue org.

3. Screening potential new owners so that the animal has a quality life once it leaves his possession.

4. Not shipping the animal. Not only will it be harder to place, but it will surely take much longer. Shipping turtles and torts is a surefire prescription for sleepless nights and watching fedex tracking like a hawk. I've done it many times, but still am not 100% comfortable until I hear it arrived and all is well. Mr. Wertz is plainly placing the animals welfare first by refusing to ship, in more ways than one.

Kudos to you Rumple. Animals could use more friends like yourself.

Thank you Critterfarm.
As of right now she is still here. It amazes me that I see them listed every where for $75 - $150, but I can't give one away. Go figure.

I can stop by on Wednesday if possible? Looking forward to a tortoise, especially for my 4 year old, if my situation is acceptable to you. I just got your pm. I'll call Tuesday. Thanks again,
Rob
