    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

These guys are posting adult gravid inports for sale. Before I buy I was hoping someone had some experience with them they could share.

They are the new online sellers of gravids for Rare pythons.
I emailed them for a price on a 100 lot because mine had not come in yet, and Chris from Rare pythons called me because John (Ball python brothers) forwarded our email to him, and he said they were selling them on kingsnake for him , and he was drop shipping gravids for them. This was around the first week of January, so once I found out Chris was involved we just waited for our big order to arrive.

I figured something was up when they first showed up on k.s since Chris was the only one to get Gravids that early this year, and now this unknown guy had them...

Gosh, I wonder why Chris isn't selling them under his own name? Why he has to get some other poor sucker to do it for him? Maybe he's too busy in his fancy laboratory creating new genentic mutations... *snort*

Vinny, if you feel you must buy these gravid imports, make sure you are purchasing from someone honest and reputable. Of course, you already took a great first step checking it out on the BOI! Check out the threads on Chris Cassacci (sp?) / Rare Pythons.
 
I thought KS took major issue with people selling snakes for somebody else...or is that just if they think the snakes have something to do with a banned member? (Chris isn't banned over there, is he?)
 
I think that's just if the member is banned......I wonder if he's a member in not-so-good standing, or if he's just smart enough to know that enough people know he's scum and would avoid purchasing from him?

No, it's for anyone. They loose money when people advertise for others. I got "yelled at" by them when I put up for sale a few Leopard Geckos two or so years ago that weren't technically mine to sell even though I would be shipping them. Someone told on me because he/she saw the geckos pictures posted by someone else on another website.

These are all the BOI threads I could find on Chris... I strongly suggest NOT doing business with him... but perhaps that's just my personal opinion based on his misrepresentation and general lack of knowledge on husbandry and genetics...

You guys may want to post this info on Chris's other threads as well...it would be nice to make sure people are aware that he is selling through others now.
 
Kinda off topic, but is there a shortage of disposable normal Ball Pythons gut loaded with parasites here in the states that would cause someone to buy imports?

Actually, I think there is a shortage of USCB gravid balls available for sale. Hence the need to settle for imports.

Yeah? Where do you get your numbers from? Why is there even a market for GRAVID imports? It's laziness and people wanting to make a quick buck. So they put these animals through hell to make some people happy. It's disgusting. Go to any show and I guarantee you you'll find hundreds of actual captive bred ball pythons. And if people were willing to put a little bit of work and time into things they could have their own "USCB gravid balls" it's called BREEDING

They really don't want people selling for other people. You can only sell your own stuff under your account. If there is proof that these BP Brothers are selling for Rarepythons then it should be forwarded to KS to give them headsup to start investigating. It is possible KS may already know about rumors that they are selling on behalf of rarepythons, but maybe haven't gotten actual proof yet to warrant taking action?
 
Maybe this isn't a place to debate the propriety of getting gravid WC imports, but it seems a sketchy practice at best... it'd be one thing in a species which didn't have a large captive-bred population, but I don't think BPs qualifies as one of those.
And I can't imagine how it wouldn't be incredibly hard on the WCs.
 
My understanding is that importation of a gravid Ball Python is illegal, but there is a loophole that allows people to get them. Does anyone know if that is true or not?

I don't have time right now to search out the specific regulation, but...yes. The "loophole" is simply when the animals are not inspected.

Here is a copy of what one looks like from Ghana when I brought in a shipment of Balls & Uromastyx back in 2003. As you can see basically the vet just signs the document and that is it.

The only bad thing is that it is against I.A.T.A. regulations as well as USFW regulations to knowingly transport and import Pregnant or Gravid animals. The shipment can be seized (and many have been) if the inspectors find out the animals are gravid. Now does this mean that no gravid animals will be shipped? Nope there are many times animals come in gravid that no one knew about but in the case of specifically shipping gravid female balls there have been many shipments seized when they arrive into the country.

Does anyone know if Chris has a import license/permit in the first place, if not then who is he getting them from?

I've read all the threads on this guy and just shack my head and laugh. This guy has to be the best con man I've seen in this industry so far. The fact is once a person commits a crime, the chances are high that they will do it again. Example: once a rapist commits the act, he will most likely do it again. Even if they so called change, you wouldn't want a convicted rapist to teach girls volley ball!

There's more to this guy then whats already showing....

From what I have read on another forum that called Fish and Wildlife is that importing gravids isn't illegal. Even if I think it should be. :ack2:
