In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey guys. I've only got several dragons so I'm not an expert but I bought a citrus female in December. She was pretty shy when I first got her and I figured that it was just her needing to get used to being in a new place. It's been 3 months since I've had her and she's got the be the most shy animal I've ever seen. My other 3 dragons go crazy when they see food but as long as I'm in the room this little one just runs and hides. She seems like she's so worried about hiding and getting away from things that she doesn't eat much. I know she's gaining weight as I weigh her every once in a while but she seems very small for her age and compared to my other female who is the same age. She's about 6 months old and only weighs like 60 grams. My other female who is actually a little younger is over 90 grams and eats like a pig. She still appears to be healthy but I just don't understand why she's so scared and shy. Is there anything I can do to help her get over it? Or maybe get her appetite up? Thanks guys and I hope someone can help me out. It's seriously stressing me out.

What kind of cage do you have her in? Does she only get scared when she sees you? or does she spend most of the time hiding?

Right now she's in a 20 gallon glass tank. When I first walk in the room I can see her and she's got the typical propped up dragon look but then when she notices me she ducks down and backs up into a corner. Sometimes she kinda goes crazy and runs all over like she's being chased. I really have no idea what to do but like I said it's super stressful. I honestly would not have bought her if I had known she was going to be such a pain to feed.

Is she housed alone...or with others? What do you feed her? She may go for a "new" and interesting prey item. I don't recommend mealworms as a staple, but they can get a juvenile interested in eating. As for the extreme shyness, you can try putting your hand in the cage and holding her for 5 or so min. at a time...with your hand in the enclosure. If she struggles alot, gently cup her in BOTH hands...still inside the cage. After a while she should learn that your hand and YOU attached to it are not going to hurt her. Take the hiding places [if there are any] out of the cage so she can't hide all the time . Just leave the basking log. Hopefully this will help.

She is housed by herself and I've made it where there are no hides. I don't hold her a whole lot and I thought that might help but I didn't want to do anything until I heard some advice from people who know more about dragons than I do. She's eating crickets and hornworms. I like the hornworms alot but they just grow too fast. I tried to get her eating big enough hornworms to where she only needed one or two a day.

She might always be flighty but after 3 months,I would definitely try to hold her every day for a short while the way I mentioned. Just short periods...inside the cage. And being that she's little, you can try silkworms, mealworms, roaches.

I'll start holding her a little bit more and hopefully she'll get more comfortable with me. I really would feel better if she would gain some weight and eat more. Maybe she's just a slow grower. Thanks you for the advice Angie.
