In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just wanted to get some feedback on these guys. I believe they are two seperate companies however Chameleon Condo is selling plastic racks that are manufactured by Reptile Plastics, Inc. I am getting ready to replace the old melamine racks I have been using for my leopard geckos with lightweight plastic ones. I like the looks of the black racks and the price of these makes it pretty tempting also. Before I made a decision I wanted to post an inquiry and see if anyone else was using these. Thanks in advance. Here is a link to the ad on kingsnake:

<b>HELLO,
CHAMELEON CONDO, AND ANIMAL PLASTICS ARE TWO DIFFERENT COMPANIES. ANIMAL PLASTICS IS THE MANUFACTURE, AND WE (CHAMELEON CONDO) ARE THE DISTRIBUTOR FOR THEIR PRODUCT.

IF YOU EMAIL ME OFF THIS FORUM, I WILL PUT YOU IN CONTACT WITH A COUPLE OF OUR CUSTOMERS.

I HOPE THIS HELPS

I would suggest reading this thread...

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1524

Where Mike over at Chameleon Condos sells a woman an animal with open sores and mixed locale as something that it isn't and then refuses to correct the issue. While a rack system isn't an animal, it shows his customer service skills.

And this thread...

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3483

Where he accuses Rob Trenor of sending him sick animals when, as the thread progresses, it seems his own husbandry was the likely cause of the animals' deaths.

Neither of them are a direct comment on the enclosures, but both are very telling about the kind of customer service and treatment anyone entering into a transaction will reccieve as either a buyer or a seller.

Thank you for posting the links, Seamus. I thought I had done a search on them but obviously not!

I did end up ordering three of the racks but I went directly to the manufacturer, Animal Plastics http://www.wantapet.com

I am really happy with the racks I got. They are a thicker plastic than some of the others I had looked into and were the color I wanted (black). I only received them on Monday and am still setting them up for my leopard geckos, once I get them completely setup I will post a new thread with pictures. So far they are working great and are everything I was looking for at a great price.

Thanks again for posting the links Seamus. After reading the two threads you posted links to, I am so glad I ordered my racks from the people who actually maufacture them. Animal Plastics has been nothing but courteous, helpful and very easy to work with all around. I'll post a new thread about them soon.

Mike At Cham Condo

I've done some business with him and have been very pleased. I am aware of the incident the Seamus mentioned, but I haven't had a problem with him. I have been quite pleased with our transactions.

Hmm...I wonder...

I looked at the Animal Plastics site (after a bit of navigational confusion), and I wonder if these cages would finally solve my long-standing need for durable plastic caging for monitors and tegus. Kelli, since you bought racks from them, can you tell if the material would be strong enough to withstand a big lizard (well, actually medium-sized monitors and tegus) with claws? If anyone else has actually purchased plastic cages from them, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Des Harmon

Animal Plastics

We just received a rack system from them and have not had it long enough to evaluate the heat regulation but I will say that the rack is very sturdy and went together well. It is the best rack I have seen by far that is plastic. ( I have not seen them all just a few) Hope this helps.

Slider Rack Inquiry

I'm considering making a purchase for 3 (S17's) of these racks and am curious to know if all who have purchased these racks/cages still feel the same way today as they did when they first received their racks/cages from Animal Plastics. I have been buying from another highly recommended cage/rack producer but Animal Plastics model S17's dimensions will fit our current expansion plans a little better, or should I say fit in our limited spaced herp room a little easier.

Thanks, Rich Hebron

Mike 'The scalper' Klein and IBD Condo (aka Chamelon Condo)

Mike 'The scalper' Klein and IBD Condo (aka Chamelon Condo)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My name is Dan Gorfain (DGReptiles). Please do a 'search' on Chameleon Condo (on www.reptiforum.com as well). 'Honest' Mike Klein is definitely a very, very, bad guy and sells snakes with IBD. He sold me a trio of ''genetic, co-dom jungles' on 10/29/04 that were not what he claimed them to be. I have been breeding albino burmese pythons for 8 years now (just got into boas this year) and own the following collection: Breeding pair of albino burmese pythons & 12 of their '04 babies, '03 tiger retic., '03 albino retic., large silver retic., and four early '04 boas that have been in my breeding room (with burms and retics)for almost 7 months now. I only breed burms right now, and do not buy/resell. On, 10/29/04, I purchased three, female,"co-dom, jungle, aberrant boas" from Mike Klein, owner of Chameleon Condo. The boas were supposedly 'flawless' and in perfect condition. Upon arrival, they all exhibited mild to severe respiratory illness, which I immediately notified Mike of. They were not shipped with heat packs, and he said the respiratory problems were probably due to the fact that the temps were low that week. He told me to hang on to them and they should get better. The one with severe respiratory problems started 'swaying' its head back and forth and suddenly died a week later. The other two snakes were slowly getting better but still showed symptoms of illness. I had Nikos Gurfield, DVM, Dipl. ACVP Veterinary Pathologist, San Diego County Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory(858)694-2838 perform a necropsy on the dead boa. The report (which I can email, if anyone is interested) stated that the boa died from IBD, or Inclusion body disease. All of these 'female' '04 neonate aberrant boas were apparently housed in one container at Chameleon Condo (per Mike). I also had Elliott Jacobson ([email protected]) examine the deceased boa's liver and he concurred that IBD inclusions were present. The deceased 'female' boa turned out to be male, and when I had fecals run on the two remaining boas, Dr.Jenkins (Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital) [email protected], they came up positive for 'high concentrations of strongyle worms'. When I notified Mike of the diagnosments (IBD and worms), he partially refunded me $150.00 for the snake that died from IBD. He also said he would, 'take care of my situation and notify the other buyers that bought babies that were housed with the IBD carrier'. When I questioned him on what 'taking care of my situation', meant, he did not respond. I also asked him who the breeder was (who I am aware of now), and he did not respond. After that, he has not returned my phone calls and/or emails. The good news is: I have a strict quarrantine routine and use seperate cleaning supplies and even a seperate sink for the breeder and quarrantine room and vigorously wash my hands several times with warm, soapy water and always handle the quarrantine animals last. From what I understand, burmese and retics seem especially suceptible and are not 'asymptomatic carriers' like boas. Apparently, most pythons die fairly quickly, and exhibit some sort of neurosis when infected with IBD. None of my snakes show any symptoms or signs of distress and have been kept seperate from the quarrantine area, which is on the other side of the house in a different room. Since this occured, I have stopped selling the baby albino burms and have been keeping them with the other four, early '04 boas (the only other boas I own) to see if they show any signs of distress or infection. Nothing in my breeder room has shown any sign of illness or infection. I also had the opportunity to have a necropsy done on an '04, premature, ligated, albino burm that I had been force-feeding since birth. The necropsy (done by previously mentioned Dr. Gurfield) came back negative for IBD: Cause of death was kidney failure (I can email report), which was obviously good news. It's a good thing I am OCD about quarrantine and use seperate cleaning supplies, or it could have turned out much different. Also, If anyone that is not a breeder and preferably doesn't own any other reptiles would like to provide a PERMANENT home for the remaining two siblings, I will give them to you at absolutely no charge. I will even pay shipping costs. They are really awesome-looking jungle-ish boas with nice peaches coming in, but they almost assuredly have IBD. I will absolutely never breed them though (as even liver biopsies are not 100%), and they are just a hazard to my collection. If you have any questions please let me know.

I have several AP racks and cages and I am very happy with them. They are durable, easy to clean, and easy to get snakes in and out of.

Chameleon Condo Seperate From Animal Plastics

Hello,

Chameleon Condo and Animal Plastics are totally two different businesses. Mike is one of three distributors we have for cages and racks. Since it is impossible for our company (Animal Plastics) to control the business dealings of our distributors we are contemplating dropping distributors and only selling direct. We are not saying anything negative about Mike or the other distributors, we have had only positive experiences with them. Having said that, we still feel it might be too dangerous to have our name associated with any other businesses and their dealings.

Thanks for Reading

Mark,

I don't think any reasonable consumer (stressing the word reasonable) would blame a cage manufacturer for the animal dealings of someone who carries their cages for resale. Though everyone needs to be cautious of who is associated with their business name/brand, I don't think there is any blame being directed at Animal Plastics with Mike's current dealings.

I have bought from AP 3 times and evrytime the transactions were great.. The customer service is top notch and the product is bulletproof...

Chameleon Condo Rip Off

(Sorry about the duplicate thread posting, but I really do want someone to see this)

Hello all,

I know this isn't snake related but I saw the Chameleon Condo and had to post to ask. I was just trying to buy a present for my nephew (who has a little Jackson he adores) and he asked for the Condo, which he saw online. I ordered it, paid the almost 300 bucks via paypal and...nothing.
For three months I have been trying to get even a response from these folks and nothing. No answer, not even an excuse..just nothing. They plain and simple are ripping off people who order them. Anyone know their number or address so I can write them and ask what is up? I would really appreciate any help. He was just crushed...it was a birthday present and he is just a kid.

Thanks
Christy Bryant

Animal plastics are great

I have 2 of the 48 X 24 cages and 2 of the 27 tub shoe box racks. These cages are excellent and I hope to buy more this year. Also the customer service is great.

Christy,
You can file a fraud report with paypal. They take thigns like that pretty seriously. Since it has been 3 months or so I dont knwo what they will tell you but you might want to try anyway..
-Matt Graybeal

Yes, since it is simple non-delivery of goods paypal will freeze the amount of your purchase ($300) from his account and make it inaccessable while they review your claim. He must provide proof that he shipped it and you received your order or else they will rule in your favor. They will then take the money they froze and direct it back to YOUR account. If he does not have the funds available they will lock down his account and he will no longer be able to accept paypal payments or use thier service from my understanding.
