In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Legal or not?? roaches shipped to fl??

Please refrain from posting (or participating in) discussion topics in the classifieds

Thanks Harald.

Yea, Angie & TINMANNN...you guys are giving me a headache :raspberry

:bolt01:

Angie, in the classifieds you're inquiring for a Dubia colony (I'm assuming thats what spawned this thread).

From what I've heard, tropical roaches (or at least some species) are illegal to keep in FL. Due to Florida's subtropical climate, said roaches could thrive if they escape (potentially inflicting damage to the agriculture).

I'm not positive about this, though. The following link is to Florida's Department of Agriculture. You should be able to find what you're looking for there...

I just checked FWC's website www.myfwc.com and I can not find any insects listed as prohibited species. The closest think is most crayfish. I would say you are fine as of right now. I know I have had people offer me colonies for my pet store but I just can't deal with roaches. (I have a hard enough time with crickets ;) )

Good thing I noticed Nick had moved this to a discussion forum......cuz
I was about to open up

Sorry Harald I had not noticed where the thread was when I replied and I stand corrected No roaches to Florida anywhere else but stinking Florida!

Cite your authority please

There's only a couple kinds of roaches you can legally have shipped here Discoids are one, but I don't remember the other, they're both accepted as native though.. I've tried writing the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, but have yet to get a response with a list(been almost a month), because i'm looking into something to feed my dragons other than crickets, since it's getting really hard to find them.
Nooot Everything is illegal, Dubia ARE, and I believe you need a permit for hissers...
No authority, listening to the athority..

Legal: Discoids and Craniifer's
You need a permit for, Hissers
Everything else is illegal.

I can try to dig up the paper work, but I contacted the fish and wildlife about vending at Daytona last year.
