In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My full name is Rachelle Wolfson in case it isn't listed (but I think it is).
I've been to reptile addictions in spokane valley VERY OFTEN. I kept checking in to see if they had any normal female ball pythons, with the intent of buying one (I'd be happy to buy from an online web site, but wanted to avoid shipping as it is expensive). I had told her this numerous times.
So I stopped in today to Reptile Addictions, and apparently now Wendy is charging a $5 fee PER PERSON to get into the store and look around.
That's absolutely fantastic (dripping sarcasm) since they don't list their store inventory online, and they never, EVER answer the phone. (They have a voicemail it automatically sends the call to.)
So, basically, I'd have to pay $5 to go in, look around, find out they DON'T have any female ball pythons (they have a crummy selection anyway), and leave. Plus I MYSELF would pay for the gas to go out there.
I really think Wendy should either begin answering the phone to give people inventory updates, or begin listing their inventory on their website.
(But she'd probably start charging money for the phone calls or website, too.)
Honestly, I think the 5 dollar charge is pretty greedy and money hungry, and the fact that they don't offer any way for you to find out what types of animals or products they have for sale inside only seems to confirm this notion.
All in all: Don't visit Reptile Addictions, and DON'T pay the $5 fee. It's very likely they won't have what you're looking to buy.

Also, I'd be happy to let Wendy know of this thread if someone could shoot me the link to her account on Fauna Classifieds. Thanks.

Not sure if this is an appropriate BOI topic, but I'll respond anyhow.

It's Wendy's business to run as she sees fit. If it's her intention to drive customers away.... well.... :shrug01: That makes her a poor judge of good business practices, but not necessarily a "bad guy."

Ok--if it doesn't belong here, I'm awfully sorry, could someone move it to where it does belong? It seemed appropriate to me but I'm probably wrong. :(
The only thing I think is WRONG is that she doesn't answer the phone or list anything on her website. :( I really wanted to buy from her, but I can't afford $5 every time I want to see if she got a female ball python.
I know she can run it how she wants. I just am really saddened by this. :(
She was nice to me which is why I don't understand what the heck is going on here.

You might try and run a search here with her name...some of that reading may give you a better idea of how her brain works.

Yeah not sure if this is BOI worthy...But I will say thats a pretty crummy thing to do..$5 just to walk in..Uuummm how bout no...I thought my local pet store was bad cause even with the price of not having to ship, his prices on snakes and some lizards is still $40-50 more then getting the animal and paying shipping..He is a flipper who does to guarruntee health either...As soon as you walk out the door its on you...

I might not agree with the practice of charging to enter a retail facility...but she is hardly the first reptile place to do so.

It is my understanding that she is selling the store (see the Miscellaneous section under the Classifieds) and that the store is going out of business. That might explain the need for cash.

Well, if she doesn't answer the phone, and doesn't answer emails or list her stuff online, I wouldn't have thought it was a good place to buy from. She doesn't guarentee that she had the snakes you were looking for, before you chose to go pay $5 to walk in to check, right?
I myself probably wouldn't bother going to a place, paying to get in, after the person wouldn't answer the phone or email. It's rather silly to not be open to contact, but as far as charging $5 to walk in? Yeah, it's her choice, and she doesn't force people to come to her store, so.. yeah. Not the best business plan if she wants to make sales, but maybe she thinks it's more likely to make money like a zoo charging admission?

Reading up on her other threads would probably give you reasons to buy from her or not. (probably not, hopefully).

:( Why in the world is she selling the store? That's sad! I loved all the stuff in there. I loved looking at it. That's why I'm bummed. It's a wonderful place, and I was forever telling all of my friends that if they wanted snakes, frogs, lizards, feeders, etc. TO GO THERE. :(
I wonder what Wendy will say.

I myself am relieved to hear her store was being sold, closing etc. I discontinued doing any business awhile ago. There is a new local shop in northtown mall , another in the valley that has re-opened. Both will probably even answer the phone and to my knowledge there is no admission fee.

The admission fee is more than likely to stop the store from being the local hangout for loiterers..........I would love to hear her speech at the door asking for the money.

I've heard of the new store in Northtown, Rasmussen's Reptiles--is Wendy affiliated with them? I wonder if they're..."up to par" with her shop.

I actually would support an admission fee for animal specialty shops that go the extra mile with presentation and comfortable living conditions for the animals being sold and on display. It can be seen something like a zoo, and perhaps people can become educated that way. Of course, can't speak on the behalf of a store I've never been in, but I like the fantasy idea of better 'pet shops'.
