• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Two new enhancements in the classifieds sections.

My programmer has implemented a few changes in the classifieds sections, for those of you who haven't noticed yet.

There are new buttons at the bottom of the post of the originator of the classified ad thread. One provides a direct link to PM a message to the seller/buyer. The other provides a search function of the Board Of Inquiry forum for the member's profile name and his or her member handle.

They both should be pretty self explanatory....

Excellent!

Good deal! That is a jump ahead of any other classified site, to be able to check out sellers right at the ad.

(But I can hear the Bad Guys howlin' now about how they are innocent and it is all a bad rap )

I noticed the BOI button when I noticed the change in the Trader Rating screen...Trader Ratings can no longer be applied by clicking a member's rating - that just brings you to the review page. The "Rate This User" option isn't there any more.
To give Trader Ratings, go to their profile page.

 That was my first thought, too!! I love it! :D

I think this is probably one of those changes that everyone will like. I noticed the BOI button. It is one of the best tools yet! Great idea Rich! (or Rich's programmer) whoever thunk it up.

That is an oversight, I am sure. I have contacted my programmer to fix this issue.

Actually several people have suggested a BOI direct link button over the years. I as hoping that vBulletin would eventually introduce a "fuzy logic" capability to their search algorithm, but that doesn't appear to be forthcoming. So I decided to implement it now, anyway. As long as people understand that it is limited in that the text string being used in the NAME profile field and the member name will ONLY search for EXACT matches, then it will help to server the purpose intended.

Obviously it is IMPORTANT for people posting on the BOI to make certain that they take due care to enter correct identifying names in the topic line. For instance, if someone posts a thread about "Rick Zuchowski" in the BOI and I were to post an ad in the classifieds, clicking the "BOI ?" button will NOT find that thread.

The BOI button is awesome. :D

The direct PM button initially seemed odd, since one can click on any user name and PM them from there...but I guess it wouldn't surprise me if most people hadn't noticed this.
