Bad Guy JP Pets, reptilestopetstores.com, Andrew McVige

I first purchased 2 frogs and an ETB from JP Pets on 10/11/11 ($392.60). The animals, unlike what has been previously stated (in other BOI threads) arrived in good health and are still doing well today. The animals are not the issue.

My issue is that recently, my CC was charged $392.90 payable to Andrew McVige. At first I did not know who the charge was from, till I searched my records and found the info. To say I wasn't pleased would be an understatement.

I have assemble my proof and resolution below.

I had to call my CC company & dispute the charges. This has been resolved as the CC company reversed the charges.


This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

Mellisa, I work for JP PETS and have since October 2011. We received your message about the charge On Feb 15th. You then responded back with your company name et, and within 24 hours we reversed the charge and credited your card back. It has been deducted from our bank acct according to the owner.. If you have disputed it you may receive credit twice. If you do please let us know.. We are very sorry for what happened. I am glad you were pleased with the animals which were sent to you the ETB and the frogs. If you would like further details or a more detailed explanation please email the owner directly. Thank you and once again we are very sorry.. If you choose to order again we can offer $50.00 off your next order for the inconvenience. If not our appology still stands..

An email letting me know that you reversed the charge would have been good. It would in fact have saved your company a Bad Guy Thread.

And Robert, how about you PM me with the owners email address so that I may do that, as I know that [email protected] is not the owners email address.

Yes that is the owners email address, however I sometimes check it as well.. Why you were not informed of the reversal I do not know. You should have been. The important thing is you received good animals and were made whole.. Sorry for the stress it may have caused though..

Then I would think that the owner could take a few minutes to send an apology, with his name attached.

It's great that the charge was reversed when you were notified....but how about an explanation for why she was charged a (slightly) different amount 3 months after her purchase?

That was my question to them in my first email. It was convienently never answered.

And my card cannot be charged again, as the number has been changed.

So if, and that is a huge if, I ever order from you again it will only be through PayPal.

Please contact the owner. He will give you any additional details if there are any. He is not and will not post on a public forum good, bad or otherwise. I on behalf of the company have made my appology, offered compensation and tried to give the best explanation I could and fill in any holes or questions as to what, when and why. Hopefully you can accept our appology and understand it was a mistake that was corrected. I am not attempting to be standoffish, rude or direct but to continue here is only going to "stir" the pot and I/we have done what we can to correct the situation.. Once again I am happy you received your money back and received good animals.. If you wish to use the $50.00 free credit. Just let us know..

Your company made an unauthorized (actually a fraudulent) charge with a stored cc number. It is a very big deal and it speaks volumes about your company that you refuse to address how it happened. You have not offered any sort of explanation, just offering the OP a small credit and encouraging her to "to stop stirring the pot."

Do you notify your customers that you store their credit card numbers?

I find it very unlikely that this was an accident.

That is horrible. Just knowing the owner won't come here and sends someone else to respond after a such a serious FRAUD on a credit card people should stay away. With the posted evidence and no explantion what so ever from the owner or hi "staff" it only seems the reason they are not giving an explanation as to why you were charged AGAIN is they got caught... I wonder how many others get banged twice?

I can not believe they stored your CC#. I have never heard of that before, shady to say the least. And its a little convenient that the amount was almost exact like they wher hoping you wouldnt notice. Until they proove other wise i will believe this was a scam in the making. Very unprofessional and generally decietfull to hold your CC#.

I wondered the same thing. I might not have caught it as early as I did, except for the fact that I tried using that card & was denied. That card carries a very low limit, just in case something happens, like this.

I have emailed the "owner" Joe Krefetz for an explanation.

I received a response to my email. I was originally just going to post the reason for the double charge, but I changed my mind as I disagree with his reasoning. It is my opinion that if I don't post the letter, this will not die down. What the "owner" doesn't understand, while this is a public forum, quite a few members here buy in bulk (wholesale) to resell.

My employee informed me you would like to know why your CC was charged twice.
First let me tell you. I apologize for the double charge. It was done because in our receivables file we showed that the invoice had never been paid. We charged the card and our intent was to inform you of the charge but we failed to notify you which led to you finding out there was a double charge. After you called we immediately looked up the charges with our CC processor and found out you were indeed charged twice in error. We then immediately credited back the charge.
We dropped the ball and as my employee has also done I am sorry. This explanation may not be enough but, we assure you the problem was corrected and I am told he offered a $50 credit if you choose to accept it.

On a side note, you may or may not display this email on a retail public forum. We do not sell retail and only cater to Wholesalers and Pet shops... I cannot stop you from posting, and we have nothing as a business to hide however it has been my experience that doing so will only create additional drama and will not allow this issue or any other to die. We have really done all we can as a business to correct an admitted mistake on our part but to debate and speculate any further really does no good as the problem on our end has been corrected as much as it can be at this point.

In any case, I am happy to know the problem is corrected. We have offered an inconvenience credit of $50.00 which to some (may or may not be enough) our sincerest apology and 100% credit. I hope this explanation is satisfactory and whether you choose to believe it or not it is the truth. Please do not take this the wrong way but there is nothing more I can say or do with this issue as you did receive your money back. If you feel we can do anything else or you have any additional questions please call us directly. Thank you

P.S.- I am told you were happy with the animals. If you do not feel comfortable using your CC in the future we do offer C.O.D. service.
