In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ron Radloff of WI. Can anyone tell me about him.

Rons a good guy

you can buy from him without worries. I got a pair of applegate gophers from him two years ago and they have grown into beautiful healthy snakes that will breed this coming summer.

Ron is a good guy.

You're talking about one of the best!!!

If you go with Ron you'll get great service, great follow-up and, most importantly, great animals. I've gotten stock from him the last two years and have been more than pleased!!!

Ron is a good guy with a well kept collection. I have seen many of his animals over the years and they have all been healthy, high quality animals.

thanks all

First let me say thank you to all that responded to this thread. Let me ask what you would do in my situation. Last Monday I sent a pastel ball python to the person that started this thread. He had me send it to his job. It was signed for at 9:59 AM. At about 3:45 PM I get a call saying he just picked up the box and it was empty except for the activity/feed chart. I was dumb founded at first as this has never happened to me. I started asking questions and he admitted the bottom of the box had been tampered with. I told him somone had to have stolen the snake as I did ship it. In this hobby all you have is your name so I told him I had to do some thinking about this. I hated to see him get ripped off but I also new it would mean I get ripped off if I replaced the snake. I posted for opinions on the BOI and all sided with me saying I can't be responsible for an animal that sits for almost 6 hours in someones elses care. It was suggested by one poster that I tell him to file a police report for theft. I took this advice and emailed the buyer of such. I'm still contemplating replacing the animal but I know someone there had to rip it off. Here are a few things that made me throw up a red flag.
#1 The emails were signed tommy all thru the buying transaction.
#2 When he sent me the shipping info he said send it to Doyle Barkley at Moores Oxygen Co. I emailed him with my concerns about the different names and shipping destination.
#3 He emailed me back and said the person that would be receiving the snake for him is a reptile lover also. The box was signed for by a D. Parks. That name never cae up in any of the emails so I assumed it was the reptile lover.
#4 When he called to say the box was empty he was very calm like nothing happened. I would have been pissed thinking the shipper ripped me off. At least at first I would have been.
#5 When I suggested it was stolen by someone there he said no one would come in 20 feet of the box as they don't like reptiles and think hes strange for keeping them. This made me think about his email earlier that another reptile lover would be accepting the delivery.
#6 He even said he pay for the reshipping and insurance of a replacement snake.
Well I'm still lost as to what I should do. thanks Ron Radloff

Hmmmm

Did you get any pics of the "tampered" with box? How did you pack it? In a snake bag, in a deli cup etc? I find it hard to believe that if it was packed properly, that the snake could escape, so bottom line, it is the buyers problem, they had it shipped to THEIR work, that means it is THEIR responsibility. If it was really stolen, a police report would be filed by the buyer.

packaged

David,
I used a brand new box from Superior so my tape was the only tape ever used on it. Thats how the buyer was able to tell it was tampered with. He did not send me any pics but he would be the one requiring proof of tampering so I didn't ask for any. I packed the snake in a 9 inch deli (from Superior also). I also wrapped some 3 inch stretch wrap around the deli so the lid couldn't pop off. I lined the bottom of the box with newspaper crushed into balls. Then put the container in and surrounded it with the same paper and then covered the deli with some. I then placed the activity/care sheet on top of that and then replaced the styro lid and taped the box and shipped it. Ron Radloff

My Opinion

I would not replace this snake. Something obviously smells rotten in Denmark if you know what I mean. Had there been a hole and the snake escaped...that would be another issue but based on what you've told us Ron, I'd tell the guy sorry and move on.

You obviously are not going to get a bad rep with any of us who know you better. Go with your gut...it usually (99%) is right!

Russ Bates

I wouldn't replace it at this point either. As you mentioned, I would insist on a police report, and get copies, and follow through with whatever officer gets assigned the case, before I would even think about replacing said animal.

If he was indeed a victim, it would seem he should be really pissed at the people that he supposedly knew well enough to have the business accept the order. How hard would it be for the police to investigate that, I mean a business signed for it. The bottom line is, you sent it to where he wanted it sent, I don't think you should be liable at all, probably even if he filed a police report.
IMHO

i also starting to smell something fishy too. its odd on how the other post's he claims everyone is not a thief there. honeslty how would he know? just because they have a clean background doesnt make the person totally clean. just means they might not have been caught in their crimes...

like in the other post's where another guy said he sent him snakes before with only one problem of a box getting punctured open and a snake escaping. makes me wonder if someone at work is noticing they can get away with it, cause he would file it other places and not go off on everyone there.

like ron said, the only thing was missing was the deli cup with the snake. seems to me just about perfect to sneak just that out......

Always rely on the truth!!!

Ron,
An ancient manuscript of the Book of Bob in chapter 53, verse 12 gives us a word for this: "Not only doth it stinketh, it also doth sucketh." I wouldn't replace the snake. There are too many circumstances here beyond your control.. And there are too many of us who have been treated right by you above and beyond anything we deserved. Having bought from you, received boxes packed by you, and experiencing a professionalism beyond reproach I think you can weather any storm that arises. If you cave-in here than it becomes ever so much easier to file questionable claims. Six hours is just too long to be sure nothing happened at the point of arrival, to say nothing of what happens intransit. Earlier this year I ordered a pair of Black Pines that should have arrived by 10:00 am. They finally got here at 3:30 pm. They were literally hot to the touch as I unpacked them. So who is at fault? The breeder? The shipper? The guys loading the plane? The driver?? The Pines are doing fine. But my point is, with so many hands touching them how could I tell if something had gone wrong? Hang in there Bro. You're still one of the best!

It is now the buyers responsibilty to either pursue this matter with the police or not. What does the person who signed for it say to explain the theft? It seems to me through Ron's account of events and the info supplied to him that this is not a theft but an attempt to extort an animal from him to replace an animal that was not stolen. If it was stolen, how about supplying the box to the police for fingerprinting and going from there.

I still think that once a person signs for a package they are responsible for it.

lost ball

I wanted to put a close to this problem. I spoke to Doyle tonight and told him I'd replace the pastel male. While I know the snake was shipped I do beleive Doyle had nothing to do with it being stolen. I know I would be in the right if I didn't replace it.. BUT.. I know what it feels like to get ripped off and how hard it is to save that much money. While some of you may say I'm dumb and was scammed I will sleep better knowing I did what I thought was right under the circumstances. I look at it this way, I produced the pastels so I'm not out any actual cash just a snake. I figure anyone looking me up will see how I handled this and feel secure doing business with me. I don't want to give the wrong message however!!! This isn't something I will do whenever a customer makes a claim like this. I just thought this situation was different. Thanks to all that backed my integrity and shared their feelings on the matter. Ron Radloff

This is Why You Are So Good!!!!

Ron, What can I say?!?!?! You're taking the high road!!! That's why I do business and will continue to do business with you.
You're on the path least chosen! Good for you!!! Just one problem though--Now I'll have to compete with more people for your stock!!! Oh well!!!! Take care!!!!

Ron,
I have only been a member of this site for a couple of weeks and have read several hundred pages on BOI to gain knowledge of this community. I have read this threed twice now. I would just like to say when I decided to make a purchase you would be the person I would like to deal with. I am new to herps with only about one year experience. You may have lost out on this deal but it shows what kind a person you are and benefits you greatly.

This is my first post. I hope I followed the rules and posts ok.
