well he sold me 2000 dollars worth of violently sick snakes!!! and refuses to take them back!!! but instead wanted to send me 450 dollars....when i wanted to send the snakes back!!!i had them for 3 and a half weeks and i took them to a vet and the vet ran tests on them and told me they were very sick animals,and that they have been sick for a very long time,,because of the progressivnss of the infections!!! two reptile vets tyold me after testing the snakes that their illness has been coming on for atleast 2 month or more!!!1 what do i do !!!i invested 2000.for some breeders and i got very sick animals..and they are very big albino burms!!!!what should i do????

Too late for you - but just a reminder - it's always good to do a search on the BOI before you buy. The archives have a LOT of good information. Plus - the herp community is close - seems like everybody knows everybody.

they were healthy here and respitory infections in burms and especially albino burms do pop up and alot easier than some other snakes. Shipping can even stress them possibly enough to cause something. You shouldn't have waited 3 1/2 weeks to say there was a problem with stuff if there was other than when you told me that the male was "breathing heavy" and i did say that it was normal for him and based on that is where i sent the $450 that was agreed upon on 12/27 which on Wednesday before Xmas was set in place to be $300 and then went up, so like i said i felf bad and in fairness you did tell me about the male right away. These animals were kept in my private breeding collection and the only reason they were being sold was to give me more room for my growing Retic collection. I do also have animals that i buy to resell when i buy groups, collections or broker for others.
You also on the phone call on 12/27 said that if paid in two hours $450 was sufficient on this matter if done in the next two hours and i turned to Ed while on the phone with you and asked him if he had enough in his paypal to cover this and could he do it in the two hours that you said would have to be done in and then he sent it within almost an hour of our phone call. You should have also never sold the greens if the others were sick. I have talked with you for long hours and both of us have spent alot of time on the phone about this matter. If this wasn't done then you shouldn't have accepted the PayPal indicating on the bottom of the paypal " this is final settlement for the Berms from Matt at Monster cages per your phone conversation 12/27/04"
If i was just out to scam you or something i wouldn't take your calls, I would have avoided you instead i did just the opposite with talking for hours and hours on different days.

why wont you take back your sick animals then...i waited3 and so weeks because you said they were checked out and they were fine,,,(but then address this--why do i have two vets telling me that these snakes have been sick along time...way before 3 and a half weeks!!!!! so which means either you knew or you didnt care,and just shuffled them off on me,,,i will not stop until this situation is solved!!!!!!you are a cheap skate and a piece of garbage,for selling me these very sick snakes!!!you say you stand behind your stuff ?i cant tell...i would never buy a cage from you and i'm gonna tell everyone i can find that will listen to me that under no situation should any one ever buy any thing from you ,,,and pay pal is starting an investigation about why you are not refunding my money when i do not want these sick snakes...you are a bum and a crook and you should never be aloud to sell anything any where..we shall see who comes out better matt!!!!!!

I just stated how things went down. You have to pursue the avenue that you have to on this. Remember we were both on the phone with PayPal at the same time also and I will be glad to contact them on Monday if you would like please give me the reference number in regards to this investigation being they would have given you that.
I have also asked for the pics that you said you took too and the video that you said you took also and actually the $$$ was sent based on you just saying all this too considering your vet wouldn't tell me on the phone that he could pin point how long or when the animals were sick because i asked you to ask him since you were there according to you when i was on the phone with you one time and he wouldn't talk to me on the phone that day either.

first of all you are a lier!!! my vet did say that these animals have been sick longer than three weeks... stick to the facts,,,either resolve this problem,,by letting me send these snakes back..or we will be in court,,and i will make sure that they kick you off pay pal,,just like they kicked you off king snake.com before you begged to get back on!!!matt i will never give up this fight you started,,i will fight until i get justice!!!!!why wont you just take back your rescued animals,and refund my money,,,i was looking for breeders not sick animals that will never breed this season and maybe not next year either!!!!!!!!!!!

Like i said I will hook you up with the gentleman that i bought his whole collection and these were his no rescues sorry. He might have said something to you but he would not talk to me on the phone and actually the one part of the conversation i did hear was him stating that he can't determine how long they were sick and couldn't put down that they were sick 90 days ago like you alledged early on and where are the pics, video and that stuff.
If touched on right away then i could see your point but i don't know how you keep your animals and stuff in that 3 week period ( no trying to offend or say you don't keep them correctly ) but that is where i am coming from. You can make up what you want or take this where ever you need to on this. I have also ask numerous times for the proof of any of this in the pics that you said you took right away and the video you took right away, why can't you produce that stuff, you told me you had it, where is it
They left here healthy and good shape, eating and everything else and i don't know if they got sick one day after you got them or 3 1/2 weeks later and if they were sick you should have let me know right away is all

I had a deal going with Matt 1st part of this year concerning a laddertail boa female. I called him and we set up payment arrangements. After I sent the 2nd payment I got the first back in the mail with a note saying she was sick and he didn't want to sell her while she sick ( 1 point for Matt ) BUT he tried isistantly to sell me some of his other stuff at a discount. Started to iritate me since I should only have to say " No , I want a refund " once or twice instead of a dozen. Anyway , it took dozens of e-mails , most of which were probably ignored , and months to get the 2nd payment back. I got a ton of excuses and by the time I got it back it wasn't worth the amount in fees to get a refund. It took awhile , lotta frustration but I did get a worthless moneyorder back. Can't see how someone doesn't have your address when its ON THE FREAKIN MONEY ORDER. Even with the 1 point I give him the hassle takes away 20.

well matt i have two vets that are willing to call and tell any one who will listen that there is no way these animals got this sick in only 3 and a half weeks...you are a stupid man ,and you need to grow up little boy!!!! i will bet you in the end i will get my money back!!! and ruin your worthless name and company!!!!! why is it so hard for you to be a man and stand by your stuff!!!!!

I saw the snakes in question shortly before they were shippied to Ray Strickland, they were beautiful healthy animals. The snakes showed no signs of a respratory infection or any other illness. Mr Strickland received the animals and said he was happy with them except the one male breathed heavily. Mr Stickland then sold 2 of the snakes to someone else, (I assume he thought he was selling healthy animals). Over 3 weeks later he calls Matt and says first 1 then another are sick. On Dec. 27 Mr Strickland called Matt again and said he would be satisfied with $450 dollars, which was paypaled to him within two hours. Matt heard nothing from him until Dec.30 when he begins posting on the BOI. You decide who you should avoid doing business with. I will continue to do business with Matt.

My burm

I bought a large burm from him last month and am completly happy with it, I saw the burms that he is talking about and they appeared healthy to me. He had the snakes in his possesion for several months. Why didn't you realize that they had respitory problems before THREE WEEKS? I think you just need to deal with your issues.

i think you are just another matt martin close friend!!if he has any left!! first of all the albinos he sold me,,the one male did breath and snort load,(((but matt told me that he had made that sound the whole time he had him,,,which he said was months!!!!he said it was normal in his big burms!! it was not normal as he said,,my vet told me that on a scale from one to ten with 10 being great he rated this snake a 2 maybe a 3!!! they have viral infections,,not only do they have the breathing problem,, but they have massive in fections,,in their back of their mouths and in their eyes,,,,the male has mouth rot in the back of his throat!! i have all vision cages and good heat sources,,temp gauges and the right humidity,,i care about my animals more than people,,,i have never had a sick animal!!!!! knock on wood ,,,until now!!! what would you do? your so quick to stick up for matt,,but you do not know any thing.... what would you do? if you received some big burms, and spent 2000 dollars, and the guy you bought them from says they are first class snakes? but they are not? three so weeks,,i was told that they were already checked out? i only had 2000 dollars to invest at the time..so i was told by matt that they were already checke dout recently?? which my vet says has to be a lie!! because of the long term poorness condition of these snakes,,,... i only had the snakes for under a month..not even a month... why would i have to lie???? i just wanted clean snakes like he told me ...they would go this year??? they were awsome snakes? they had already started breeding??? all lies...these snakes looked great, but in side they are almost dead!!!!! if we never stand by the health of what we sell,well than we are no better than animals our selfs!!!!! in under a month i have spent already on doctors bills 500 ,,and i'm gonna spend about 1000 more before i'm done ,,hopefully so!!! i just didnt want this problem,,i've heard of people geting big animals and turning around because they are sick and selling them to someone as 5 star animals!!! all i want is to give him these snakes back!!! to have him stand behind his word,,and give me my money back!!!i cant afford all of the vet bills it is gonna take!!!!!!!!!

O.K. I think I need to put in my experience with Matt.A few months back,Matt and I decided to do a trade.The deal was,I was trading him my yearling coral albino Boa for his yearling albino retic.I decided I would make a 1 1/2 hour drive to his place instead of shipping.First my wife and I stoped at his house because thats where he keeped his albino Retic.He had about 6 pythons there and maybe 2 small Boas.His husbandry seemed alright.THEN he took us across town to show us his other snakes he keeped in a garage.What me and my wife saw was just nasty.There where some cages that had HUGE piles of python crap WITH MOLD GROWING ON IT.He had a few Boas that where VERY skinny and unhealthy looking.It also did not feel all that warm in the garage,so I would not be suprised if those pythons did have R.I. when you got them.I had already made the deal or I would NOT have left the albino Boa with him.
There is more.....That same day when I got home,I went on kingsnake and I see Matt has an add about a coral boa for sale.I look and its the coral I just traded him.I knew it was her because she had alittle nose rub,and so did the one in the pic(it was her).He was advertising her as a 6 footer(wich she was only 3 and a half feet).I do not know what he was up too,He did NOT have NO other albino Boas,I think he would have showed her off to me seens how I am a Boafanatic.SORRY Matt,but My wife and I left your place just disgusted at the husbandry.I know you had 2 pairs breeding and you try not to bother them,but the crap with mold on it was in cages that held single animals.I remember the albino Burms that are in question right now.They were all 3 housed together roaming in a dirty cage.I CAN NOT STAND BAD HUSBANDRY!I always say,"if you can not keep up on good husbandry then you have too many".For the cages he builds,NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.

Thats cute Mike then you should have undone the deal i guess if things were that bad, sorry the garage is maintained at 70 degrees and then my cages are run from Ranco controllers and Helix controllers (swapping out the Rancos for Helix) The only cages you saw Mike were the plastic prototype cages not the ones that i do sell. I can provide you guys with tons of people that have bought the cages and are happy with them and buying more.
And for clarification the Coral I was selling on KS and alot of people can back this up I was brokering some snakes for a gentleman out of Tarpon Springs Florida and it was an adult if you would have bothered paying attention. If you don't believe me then call him his name is Dwight Cameron who i had the corals for sale for. I still have the coral i got from you Mike sitting here in my basement. I don't have a problem keeping cages clean with two people that clean over at my shop twice a week for me. The cages run off heat tape and some have lights and heat tape.
Oh yeah and i forgot that two days before you mentioned anything about those Burms being sick Ray you asked about proper heating and was asking about heat tape vs lights raises some more questions i guess.
