In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This is an idea that I’ve been kicking around for a couple of years now.

I want to provide a non-commercial informational website covering the underlying genetics of the various locality, color, and pattern morphs
of the Boa Constrictor.

It is my hope that this will become a community-driven site by offering an open forum for the free exchange of information about boas. I want it to be a place where both the novice and experienced keepers can share information and ideas.

Those providing information, pictures, etc. to the site will be credited for their work and also recognized for their contributions on the “Contributors” page.

Although it is definitely a work in progress, the basic framework is in place.
The primary need right now is pictures. I am hoping to provide good quality photos to associate with every locality, color, and pattern morph listed on the site. Submitted photos will be fully credited.

I am also working on an automated submission page for original text.

Please take a moment to check out the site and I welcome any and all comments, articles, and photo submissions.

The site is located at: www.boagenetics.com

Thank you,

If you need a designer to do the site professionally for you, I would be happy to donate my time. I think it's a very good idea.

Wow Mike I really like it....let me try and get some good pictures of my Boa Constrictor Sabogae for you, I would be really honored to be a part of that sight and project!! I also have Longicauda, hog Island, Columbian Anery and Honduran tiger boa's........

Thanks Laura,
I appreciate any and all submissions for the site.
My initial plans are to complete the "Genetics Primer" section and start getting pictures posted representing all of the color, pattern, and locality boas.

I'm also working on a "Downloads" page which will feature, for one, a Boa version of Marcel Poots' MP Genetic Wizard program. This is an excellent program that will do advanced Punnett Square calculations.

If anyone has any suggestions for additional sections, please speak up.
I really want this to be a community site.

Thanks,

Stephanie,
Thank you for your generous offer, but at this point, the site is still in it's developmental stage and is changing almost daily. From a web designer's point of view, I'm sure that it would be a nightmare just trying to keep up.

Once the primary site gets fleshed out, I would love to have the benefit of your input and expertise.

Thank you,

I like the site. Great job.

If you are interested in pics for the locality page, I can send you some of a Bluefields locality Nicarguan BCI.

Steve,
Thanks. Yes, I need every picture that I can get to get things up to speed. I should have an automated submission form for both pictures and text in place later this evening, but for now, you can email the pics to me.

Thanks for your support.

I'll get some nice pics and send them to you along with some details regarding the locality.

I'd also like to submit photos, but I have nothing exciting. :( But the best I can do for you is a Central American from unknown specific locale and Pastels. Let me know if those would be of any help!

Stephanie,
I will appreciate any submissions. I'm hoping that it gets to a point where I have to start choosing between representative photos to select the best.

Thanks everyone for your support on this project.

One nit pick. Wouldn't orange tail and salmon hypo be dominant as opposed to co-dominant? You can tell super from non-super with co-dominant, unless I have it backwards. I couldn't find a contact page or anything.

Mike,
This seems to be a point of contention between many people. I originally had the hypos listed as dominant, but I received a couple of good arguments for them being co-dominant.

This is one of those issues where I would like to invoke some discussion and see if we as a group can come to a logical conclusion.

Thanks for opening the door.

I think it's a great idea. And i am willing to donate any picture I have to the cause. (Not that I have a lot of choices. LOL) I think the genetics specifically geared towards Boas is an excellent idea as well.
Way to go Mike, hope it all goes as planned.

On the hypo gene, I can't speak for the orange tails, because I have not looked into those much at all, but the salmon hypo is a dominant gene IMO. I used to think codominant, but I do not feel like you can pick a super from a litter by it's phenotype. They always say possible super.
For a gene to be codominant there would have to be a drastic difference. Literally a third possible phenotype. At least, this is what I seem to recall learning about codominance. One to ask would be Serpwidgets.

Good luck Mike,
Rick

We have a great head shot of our male Argentine... he's a beautiful black and white specimen. I *may* be able to get a nice full body shot of him if I can rig up something natural looking inside (can't take the snakes outside anymore... a neighbor was complaining, grr). There is an awesome pic of him as a baby, too... do you need any of these?

Michelle,
I can use everything.
I'm hoping to get to a point where I have to choose between photos for the best representative picture - but I'm nowhere near that point yet.
I very much appreciate every photo contribution.

Thank you.

Mike would you like to have the pics submitted or would you rather have a list of what people have, so you don't get overrun with pics. I love the idea because I need to learn allot more about the morphs and genetics.
Dennis Cook

Dennis,
Getting overrun is the least of my worries. Please send whatever you have to me at [email protected]

I'm working on the php code for an upload page on the website which hopefully will be in place later tonight. I want to make submissions as easy as possible for the contributors.

I really appreciate every photo and piece of information that I receive.
I think this is a project that will benefit everyone.

Thanks,

The File Upload routine is now in place.
If you go to the "Submissions" page you will be able to upload directly to the server.

Thanks to everyone for their support on this project.

Mike, it'll probably take me a bit of time to get some good shots, but I'll be sending some. Albino & hypomelanistic BCI, Hog Island, Caulker Cay, BC longicauda. For some reason, I think there is something else but I'm drawing a blank.

Do you want pictures of other boa types, as well? (ie. Dumerils, anacondas, ETB, ATB, etc)

Oh, one other question - I think most of the photos I currently have are watermarked (kbiherp)...would you prefer that I submit unmarked photos?

Harald,
Thank you. Yes, besides the Color Morph, Pattern Morph, and Locality Boas, I also want to include pictures for the entire "Species List" page. I would appreciate whatever you can send.

The File Uploader is now on the "Submissions" page which will let you send pictures and text directly to the server.

Thanks again for your help - This project is starting to come together and take shape.
