    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

My name is Vinny Ferraiolo from Off The Ark in Virginia. I bought a pair of supposedly CB white-lips from Mike at rainforest. The smaller of the two came in with a bad case of "cheese" in the mouth. The larger seems OK.

I called and e-mailed Mike a few times to get a message and his wife once. She said he would call back. i called several more times and Mike did call me back. He said he bought them from a local breeder who produces a few clutches every year.

I examined their feces and found hair and no signs of internal parasites. This would let me believe that there is a better possibility of CB. I found no signs of exotic food sources (claws, scales, feathers, beaks) in their feces like birds, lizards etc.

Mike said that we would work it out and i am good with that. I just wanted to hear from others.

PLEASE i would not like to hear the ramblings of the BOI groupies just people that have dealt with Rainforest and have good, bad and neautral comments.

I stopped coming hear because of how this site has turned from a tool to just a bashing site. If you want to attack another person, use profanity or want to correct my spelling, PLEASE go somewhere else. Thank you, Vinny Ferraiolo

I have never dealt with them. Have you ever treated mouth rot with success before? If not I'm pretty sure there are several folks in here that can give you very useful tips.

You know, vinny, smacking someone upside the head and then asking them to be nice to you is a real good way to get smacked upside the head.

If this site is of so little value, go elsewhere and ask your questions.

If I recall, rainforest has had some serious problems. I may be wrong or it may be another rainforest but just because you are getting things worked out, maybe, is no reason to overlook others who have not had the same experiance as you.
 
Do a search I think there is another thread on page two here about them.. Sounds Like you should have done a search before sending Mike money... Oh and yeah I did business with them take a look and you'll see what others who have said...Randy
 
The smaller white-lip

The smaller white lip has died, pics below. I have treated several animals before. I have baytril and amakacin (not recommended for MOST snakes). This one was pretty far into the infection when I got it. The other has been isolated and is getting precautionary treatment. 1ml of Baytril everyday for 10 days.

I talked with Mike last night and feel good about what was said. As far as what will happen now, I really do not know.

I will follow through here since it is my responsibility. I know some of you feel slighted by my initial commenst but all you need do is look around this board to see what i am talking about. Some of these people just pile on and make things worse or explore personal tangents. I am not interested in that. I respectfully ask that only my question be answered as well as helpful PERTINENT information.

Prior search

I did a search before I sent money. I saw a few good and a few bad posts so I called Mike a few times to talk with him. I liked what i heard from him and took the chance. I may have gotten screwed and I may not. All of this is unfinished as of today.

I am the originator of the second thread posted about rainforest being bad guys....needless to say i never saw a dime, and mike has since cut all communication. sorry to say youre probably out the money, but let us know if he comes through THIS time..

Vincent if you did a search you knew the guy is bad news, thief, scammer take your pick,,,,,,,, And you sent him your money?? And your surprised that you have a dead animal??

People make threads and post here so people can look up someone and have an idea what they are like to do business with.. You looked at the info on this dirtbag and decided to do business with him knowingly and then come here and ask people to refrain from taking shots ETC. That's kind of funny..Randy

Bobby, can you please clarify what you mean when you say they shouldn't be confused? Same name.. I know what you mean, but new folks reading this thread may be a little confused and thrown off since you say they're good guys when it is the same name.

Dang Wes!! I could see that. Funny thing is Ray doesn't like me very well. I have been known for shutting him down a few times.

Yes, it is Sam and Rainforest Pets. I don't know what I was thinking. I was in a hurry earlier. Rain Forest Pets are good guys.

Rainforest Reptiles are the ones in question here.
 
Yup, I figured so; just wanted to make sure rather than assume, and wanted it cleared up for folks that might not know what he meant. :)
 
if those are the animals they had for sale on kingsnake a week or so ago, then this board saved me some $$$! after researching them on here, i still had a notion to do business with them. (after all, i wanted some white-lips) i sent them an email asking about price and shipping. they answered within minutes. i sent them another asking several questions about their apperance, origin, etc... and NEVER got a response. now i get it! one of them was dying, and they were still willing to sell it. NICE!!!
 
Be weary of anyone selling cb white lips. There are very very few people that have successfully bred them, and babies are not cut and dry.

Secondly the dosage of baytril you were giving was extremely over dosed. The most common dose is 10 mg/kg, and it comes as 22.7 mg/cc as the standard concentration. So for a small white lip as you pictured you should have been giving roughly .1 cc for a 250 gram snake. You were overdosing by 10 fold, which is severe with baytril.

I kept a number of adult white lips for almost a decade. On a few occasions when they needed veterinary care we found that they were very succeptable to drugs, and particulary anesthesia so extra care needs to be taken with them.

yeah I too thought it looked like he was giving that snake an overdose. I'm sure he probably just misplaced the decimal when making the post because if it wasn't a mistake then snake would have been dead in like 2 days if not sooner due to kidney failure. The snake in the photo certainly didn't look to weigh over 5 lbs lol.
