In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was notified today by a friend that someone on Wiki was not only using on of my images, but had credited himself the photo. This plagiarists name is Brad Cassagne and the image he stole from me can be found here:

Stolen (note the photo credit): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Giant_White_Knee.jpg
...the original is in my gallery (savagedigital.com/myalbum)

It's not even a good image, but damn. I notified Wiki that it needed to be removed. Then I took a look around at the other images he's taking credit for and found several I know are stolen. Her are a couple more examples:

Image original: http://www.blaberus.com/gallery/Roach01_L.jpg
Stolen image (rotated): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:True_Death's_Head_Crannifer2.jpg

Image original (one of): http://www.bigappleherp.com/Roaches?sc=2&category=39
Stolen image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imageiscoid_Roaches.jpg

This is a quote from his myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/bmcassagne)...
Photography: Almost every one of the images on this page were created by me and are not to be reproduced or used in any way without my written permission.

...what a guy.

Anyway if you have roach images or other subjects this guy "shoots" - browse around his Wiki entries - I know more images are stolen, just can't place them:

Hey you might want to do a screen shot of those and post it here,,as the last one is gone already... Randy

That was the first thing I did. Plus I joined myspace (shudder) and sent him a notice that he'd been found out and if he didn't remove ALL of the stolen material - he'd have his own "myspace" on my web page.

He sounds like an untalented scumbag that wants to feel important. I'm glad you caught him and outed him.

Why don't you watermark your online images? It's not too much work, and it helps to keep this kind of stuff to a minimum.

LOL...I know how to watermark and I do for certain images. But really all someone can do with a 72dpi 600 pixel image is repost it on the web. I can sell prints and they've appeared in magazines - that stuff pays. His little grab at credit is an annoyance more than anything.

This update from Wik:
Thanks again for the tip... We've removed all of his uploads and blocked the
user from editing.

Yours sincerely,

...so the images are now down.

I would post the screen shots because now that the links are dead, your evidence is gone. It is also one of the rules of the BOI to do that to avoid dead links.

I know, I should have posted them in the original thread. I don't have SS for the roach images, but I do for mine:

I uploaded a few images that were not mine to contribute to the encyclopedia, not really to take credit for the pictures. The pictures I "plagerized" were mediocre at best and certainly do not contribute to my "glory". I was simply lazy and thought it would be nice to contribute these photos to Wikipedia. For this reason I never thought someone would be offended for my using them. I was simply too lazy to ask for permisson to use the photos and thought it would be nice to contribute these photos to Wikipedia. I do apologize that I seem to have wrong about offending someone.

I did not have access to the couple of animals that I posted pictures of that were not my photos. The vast majority of the photos I posted were indead my photos. Due to the indiscression of the administrator on Wikipedia these have all been removed, which is of no service to the encyclopedia. I have been accused of gross copyright infringement, which is absurd. I can't think of more than 3 or 4 of the photos that were not actually mine. You have done no one a favor by having these removed other than making yourself feel better. If you would have simply sent me a message I would have been happy to remove your photos.

Wikipedia doesn't really let you do that if I'm not mistaken. I think you have to be the photographer or it has to be public domain. I had inteded to just post the source of these photos but it is against wikipedia policy to do that if you're not the photographer so I thought just putting my name would be easier.

Do you realize that you just admitted that you did indeed commit "gross copyright infringement"?

If that's true, why didn't you simply credit the true copyright holder?

The original image he took HAD my copyright information. These images were lifted off of Botarby8's website (re-size to 640 pixels for him). Then the copy write info was CROPPED OFF ...here's the original image on that site with my copyright info on it...

ageniculata2.jpg

...he removed it - yet he's here (I notified him about the thread) just has more excuses for his behavior, but no apology.

Then there's the roach images - he (or someone else ) edited those images (cropped - rotated) and again, credited the photos to himself. Is that also part of Wiki's rules too Brad. I proved that those images were fraudulent to Wiki, they and you were removed - rightfully.

If you would have simply sent me a message I would have been happy to remove your photos.

If all you had done was repost them - I would have. But to actually place your name as the photog - that's called plagiarism and you did it over and over. :notallthe

As for you pleading ignorance - I refer you to your own webspace.

Photography: Almost every one of the images on this page were created by me and are not to be reproduced or used in any way without my written permission.

...be a man, apologize and stop the behavior.

Yeah, I have never posted anything on Wiki, so I don't know their rules, but the fact he went to extra lenghths to remove the copyright info. says a lot.

Bad boy. The backhanded apology did not help, either.

It is true that Wiki has very strict rules about photos and copyrights. I am a "contributor" there, like many thousands of others.

Brad, your excuses are lame. You could simply have asked permission and asked the original photographer to submit the photo himself. It takes about a minute to become a contributor there. The worst that could have happened would have been that he refused.

Your whining that now all these good photos have been removed, most of which are yours (yeah, sure) is all on you, not on the thread starter. How's he to know that those were the only photos that you "grossly plagiarized" or that you wouldn't repost them next week? Getting you removed from Wikipedia was his only option.

Look, I've already apologized, I guess it was backhanded but I'm just ticked off about the way you handled this. If you would have just sent me an e-mail I would have been happy to remove the photos. I have not benefited at all from posting the photos. I cropped off the copyrights to avoid having them removed from wikipedia not because I wanted credit. I honestly didn't think anyone would care if I put those on wikipedia. I would not have tried to sell the photos or anything like that. I guess it was stupid but was having fun when I first got on wikipedia and made a couple of bad decisions I guess. I thought the photos were good additions to the articles I put them in and putting my name on them seemed like the easiest way to do that. 3 or 4 pictures does not sound like gross infringement to me but maybe I'm wrong about that too.

I don't want people taking credit for my images, sure, but I don't think I would have been so upset if it was on something like wikipidia. I'm more concerned about someone selling my stuff on ebay or something like that.

it seems to me that if you had just sent an email , then you could have avoided all this in the first place . if you dont want people taking credit for your images , what makes you think that others would not care if you took credit for their ?

You guys are like a pack of wild dogs feeding off of each other's self righteousness. I'm trying to make this right and none of you will let me. I know everyone of you has done much worse things than and here you all are trying to crucify me while I'm trying to apologize. What would you like me to do, be burned at the stake for posting a photo that wasn't mine?
