Bad Deal With Chris Steele , Need Help And Advice

heres what happend I paypald him the money, and he imed me today : heres a copy of what was just said .

well he didnt send me my money back. and now is not answering my emails. I need some adivice as to what to do to get my money back. I never had a bad situation like this before. need help please

If I am following the I M 's correctly all of this took place within the last 20 minutes or so. Don't you think you might be jumping the gun a bit? The guy seems to be communicating well and honestly with you. I would give it a little time before I start screaming bad deal.

I do not see the problem. Maybe I missed something, but it appears he is looking out for the wellbeing of the animal AND you by making sure the weather is ok.
Now, he did say he would sendit back tonight, but I do not personally see why that means you should come here and post all this. You aren't even waiting to see what came up as to why he did not send it back.
You are calling this a bad situation and I do not see it as that.

UPS can search any package they want for NO reason. Post Office is illegal to ship through so that was a bad suggestion on your part.
Like he said, and I would agree, sounds like you are just disappointed that you MIGHT not (like he said, he didn't say 'no') get the animal in question as soon as you wanted.

I would suggest in the future, if your concerns are to get something right away, to look into all posibilities as to what MIGHT hold up the delivery process. I have waited WEEKS before when buying this time of year. That is just part of the risk you take in dealing with live animals.

Not sure what others will think (agree with me or not), but you had an agreement. He was not able to ship UPS because they inspected the package, he did not make it to the Post Office because it was too late (not to mention against the law), and now there is a question of the weather. I am not so sure you are in a position to just demand your money back Seems to me he is doing what you asked and it is not quick enough for you.

I think you should appologize to him. He did NOT jerk you around in ANY way shape or form.
You did not get what you wanted, when you wanted it and then went crying wolf.
Now you have put his name up here and will give people reason to doubt him when he CLEARLY did EVERYTHING he could do to make you happy and complete the deal.
I would be more leary of selling to you rather than buying form him.

I agree with what was said. There was a verbal agreement. What transpires from your e-mail exchange is that you decided to buy something else with that money. Ami I reading that right. What was the animal that was going to be sent? It seems we know very little about the whole transaction.

I have to say that in almost three years of frequenting this site i have never seen such an unnecessary and libelous post.

This guy contacts you with a very reasonable explanation of why shipping is delayed. You demand a refund due to the fact that you have found something else to purchase (by your own statement). He agrees to send you the money back and when it does not arrive instantly you post a "bad guy" thread on him here? Assinine and ridiculous not to mention immature and unprofessional. For God's Sake, you had your money in a half an hour!

If ever a thread deserved to be deleted from this board it is this one. And you sir owe the seller an abject and sincere apology.

You got jerked too much??? You were really lucky that it was this guy and not someone else. You agreed to a transaction and backed off even before seeing the animal. This person deserves a public apology instead of bringing him in here. What kind of reptile were you dealing with?

My final comment on this idiotic thread is that I have added a name to a very short "do Not Deal With" list. I'll give you one guess....it ain't the seller.

I can only think of 2 things that happened here:

1. Vince did not get what he wanted, when he wanted and could not handle that.
OR
2. Vince got buyers remorse

John brought up a good point, there are some people that would NOT return the money and there is ZERO reason one should have to.
The seller did EVERYTHING he should have done and I would not hessitate to buy from him. He has proven that he communicates and will do what it takes to make someone happy.

THAT is what you SHOULD remember about this, Vince. I hope you learned something Vince.

This is the same vince that was so sure that the fund to help Houston get publicity was a fraud as well isn't it?

I agree that this one is definately up there for removal from the BOI. Totally pointless and unnecessary.

Totally agree with you on this Brian. The seller was definitely looking out for the well being of the animal and Vince did not want to wait. Very selfish IMO.

Vince, I am currently in the middle of a trade deal were I am trading a number of products that I sell for a snake. The person I am trading with lives in Northern Michigan. It is damn cold there right now. I have shipped my half because the weather is not a factor. But, we both agreed it is not in the best interest of the snake to ship right now. So I am going to wait a couple of months until it warms a bit before it is shipped. See, it is more important to me that the snake arrives healthy and ALIVE rather than tomorrow.

I was selling him 1.5 leopard geckos. Sorry Vince for not immediately sending the money. At the time, Internet Explorer would not work, so I went to the other computer, but stopped to get a snack first. I actually lost five dollars through this whole transaction in order to try to ensure your happiness. Actually, if UPS refuses to refund me then I have lost thirty-eight dollars total. The reason for trying so hard to make you happy is because I wanted to do business with you again when your eggs hatched. I do not appreciate you cursing and you do need to have MUCH more patients. You can not even begin to comprehend how bad and stressful my day has been. It has be horrible and came close to ruining the rest of my life, yet I kept my composure when talking to you and having to deal with you being so impatient. I do want to remain in contact with you through AIM.

Well at least we now know the package could have been shipped legally through the USPS.

In all honesty you were incredibly lucky to be dealing with someone like Chris. We all make mistakes, but there is always the chance to correct them. A simple and sincere apology would do. You might need for real the help of some of the people that frequent this board in the future. Why not try starting with the right foot?

Although i do not feel you had to explain yourself at all, it is always nice to hear the other side of things.
Like it has been mentioned, yes they could have been shipped through USPS, but like you said, it was closed. What can you do? Not that there is a single person here that doubts you, but you should post the emails (I assume they were emails) where Vince chose to use his colorful language. This way people can be aware of just the type of person they are dealing with and make an educated decision before making a deal with him. Of course, out of respect for Webslave and others, if they were emails I would take out the explitives he chose to use and replace them with "*" in place of some letters.

Not only an apology, but if he does not get his money back from UPS, I think you owe him money. How fast can you get that to him?
Why don't you level with everyone here, including Chris as I feel he deserves an explination more than anyone. Why did you back out of the deal so quickly? What would be the advantage to you getting something NOW vs. waiting until the first of next week?
You handled yourself in a very unprofessional way and not to 'throw mud', but there are quite a few people that would look at this thread and decide it would not be worth the risk to sell to you. Is that what you would want? I am sure you wouldn't.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I have tried to think of every angle regarding this deal and can not come up with a single thing that Chris did to make you insist on getting your money back.
It just amazes me how little people think. Did the thought ever run through your mind that just maybe you are not the only person on this planet that required Chris' attention in that short little time between you telling him 3-5 times (in the IM you posted) to send you 'your' money and the time you got it? Not only did you not give him a chance to Paypal you before you failed to think before you posted this, but you obviously did not think of what you really wanted prior to spending your money. Maybe in the future, since apparently you found something else you wanted to buy, you should decide what it is you want before you spend your money.

I would rather not post the emails. There is no point in taking it farther than it needs to go. As far as I am concerned, whats done is done. Unless you guys insist that I post the emails. Don't worry about the money that I lost Vince, I am trying to make myself not care about money so much. It is way to high up on the priority list for too many people, sadly including me.
