    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I hope these two will produce beautiful offspring. The dark phase Mex mex is the female and the male is a silvery splitbanded Mex mex. If the traits are co-dominant then I should have some dark splitbanded offspring, at least that is what I am hoping for.

Do have any idea which traits from breeding this dark phase mex mex to a split band mex mex will be recessive or dominant?
Would they be het for dark phase or split band if not apparent on the offspring?
Sorry for the questions I don't know much about genetics, but like in the earlier post it will be very interesting.

Chris,
If the traits are codominant then the offspring will show both dark ground color and splitbands. (double homozygous)
If the traits are recessive then they will be normal looking but will carry each trait. (double heterozygous)
If one is recesssive and the other dominant I will have splitband offsprings carrying the dark gene or dark offspring carrying the splitband gene. (homozygous hets)
I am hoping that they are codominant. I have seen dark splitbands before and think they could be anomalies. This breeding will be my first with such traits and will prove alot, but not until I breed some of their offspring will I know the genetics for sure. I hope I will have enough to keep some for myself since most are reserved already. Who said mexmex were hard to move??
