In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

4x2x15 only $25!!!!

Yep, those are the same Iris tubs that are sold on ReptileTubs.com - they are VE175s. They are usually only sold in local stores during the holiday season as "christmas tree boxes". I have to get to my local Wallyworld to see if they have any in stock.... saves on shipping! I have two (from reptiletubs) and they work great.

:)

at mine there we on one little island thing near the fabrics with some other smaller green and red totes

I've thought about making a rack that holds those, but I don't think it will work that well. If you make it a sideway rack, the shelves will have to span over 50" without support. I would think this would lead to sagging and binding of the box. And building them the other way is not that much better as between the rack and the boxes pulling out you would need over 100" of clear space to pull out the boxes for cleaning.

I may have to think on this more. Those would be nice for some BCI. :shrug01:

I helped a friend of mine make a rack to hold 3 of those. We cut out a piece of melamine a few inches bigger all the way around for each tub to start. Made a square out of 2x4's the same size as the melamine and laid the first sheet on top of it. Screwed it in and then took some 2x4's and stood them straight up, 2 on each side. Stacked the tub/melamine/tub/melamine/tubmelamine and just screwed it into the 2x4. It works good so far

Liquidleaf made a rack. Details here http://cagemakers.ophidiagems.com/viewtopic.php?t=28&sid=52e650505d851e70ab48a5fd5c5a7373

I may go try to find some of these to hold my males after breeding season is over.

After Xmas, the price usually drops on those boxes - They are a "seasonal item" at Walmart, and once the season is gone, they want the items to be. I picked up several last year at $19.95 in mid January.

How are you heating these ???

first off let me thank you, i ran to walmart and bought 2 of these christmas tubs today. now id like to no 2 things,
1st; how r u heating them???
2nd: did u build a pull out rack or do u stack them??
i realy like them and i will go but 10 more tomorrow and then figure out how to use them best
thanks again

vinnie

I have mine in a "shelf" type rack - It holds 4 of those tubs + has several shelves that hold 3 28qt tubs. That room is heated, and most of the snakes I have in them don't want supplemental heat (nothing to do with the species - it is just the individual snakes' thing) I do have 11 inch heat tape set up if I choose to use it

on my friends' rack he uses the 11x17 exoterra heat mats on a thermostat. i suggest using flexwatt if you need more UTH. That heat pad cost about $40 and flexwatt would only be like $7

You need A Dimmer, or a thermostat with Flexwatt as well. It can get much too hot on its own and end up killing your animals.

I'll have to keep an eye on this. I found some, but everything else was 50-75% off and these were still full price.

Haven't found any at the local WalMarts yet - I have one more store to try. I hope they have some! I sure could use another spare at that price. The rack I made is holding up pretty well (I would have used more heavy duty drawer slides if I built it again, but the cheap ones are holding up). After using reflectix to insulate the sides of the rack, it holds heat pretty well. Yep, I still have to take some more photos and post the dimensions... the holidays got me pretty busy though. I promise I'll post them soon! :)

Any pictures? Planned on building a rack material this weekend like liquidleaf but always looking for new ideas.

Temps will be controlled by a Herpstat thermostat. For corns, black pine snakes, and black milk snakes - do you think 2 pieces of 11in FlexWatt per tub is overkill? Ambient is 70 in winter and 70-80 in summer.
