In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

a nice surprise with my cresteds . . .

I just put some heat on my partial pins on Sunday - (they were in the mid 60's all winter).

Just caught this Monday afternoon. That was fast - she must have already been gravid. This is her very first clutch.

I wonder if it was coincidence, or does the heat stimulate laying? hmmmm . . . .

Either way - I thought it was a cool picture and thought I would share it with you.

hey monte congrats. did you know she was gravid? I have a leopard gecko that seems to be takeing a long time to lay her eggs, you think i should be some added heat on her? let me know if you figure out the connection between the heat lamp and the egg laying. good luck with your cresteds.

awesome monte, i need to buy some from you this year..

would you mind if i e-mailed you with some questions regarding feeding?

Jeremy - thanks for the kind words. I'll be sure to post if anything hatches.

Vince - to be honest, I noticed her getting a little fatter, but they don't show eggs like leos do - well, not at least to my knowledge. But frankly, I was surprised that she laid so soon.

As far as heat goes - i don't know if that makes any difference, I was wondering myself. Hopefully someone smarter than me will have that answer - hehe.

Dan - sure, ask away, I'll do my best to answer them. You can ask them here too. Just to let you know - I'm a T-Rex man, myself - almost strictly T-Rex.

Congrats Monte! That is a beautiful Harlequin too! Maybe we can some trading this year! Mine should be ready to breed in a couple of months.

What is a good weight for cresteds to be when they start to breed?

Thanks for the nice comments, Jeanne.

TO be honest, I am so "old school" with cresteds, that I've never, EVER weighed one. I used to have the leos on the scale all the time - but with the cresteds, it's "Hmmm, that looks good". I wait for a year to breed mine, at least - I guess I'm in no hurry.

I think they have to be over 35 grams, but don't quote me - I'd have to look it up - but then I'd have to get up out of the chair. LOL.

Take care

My girl laid her eggs a little over 60 days ago and is ready to lay again. Her temps are in the low 70's so my guess is that at lower temps they take longer to become gravid and lay their eggs. After this clutch I'm going to up the temps to the mid 70's to high 70's and see if that makes a difference.

Mark, I found that giving them a nice hot spot of 80 or even a little above is OK - I just don't heat the whole cage that hot. I use a screen cage - so I can just set a lamp on top (I use a regular 40 watt bulb) and that seems to do it. I use my little 25 dollar temp gun (tempgun.com) and find there is a nice little hotspot on top - with the rest of the cage in the 70's. That seemed to make all the difference in the world - my other females started laying regularly after that.

Give it a try - let us know how it goes, Ok?

Monte,
I have them in a 20 gal it's about 16 inches high. I only house 1.1 cresteds in there. I will try a 40 watt bulb place on the screen top. Hopefully that will work and I for sure will let you know.

Here is an older pix. I now use a combo of egg crates and some wire to support it higher - then put the lay box underneath. I'll have to get a pix of the new set up - but this works too . . .
