    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Aw jeez! Beware folks (those who haven't experience this that is) BPs r MUCH stronger than we give them credit for!
This morning while my kids were getting ready for school I was sitting in the living room observing my cat freaking out. She was REALLY jumpy and kept peering under the couch. At first i ignored it since she can be a bit of a freak at times anyway but then something told me that it just wasn't *right* I got my daughter to check and be sure Abby was in the tank..and lo and behold she WASN'T! My God..the plywood top of her tank WEDGES into the top frame..we didn't think it was possible for her to be strong enuf to open it but that's the ONLY way she coulda gotten out! Interesting thing is that the wood didn't appear to have been shifted at all! How the heck did she get out???? And the scarier thing is that Abby may have been out of her tank for a couple days! The way the substrate was all balled up under her hut (which only has a really tiny hole) made it look like it was Abby under there. We haven't seen her for a couple days..we assumed she had gone back into *hibernation* mode to shed. And when she does that the kids know not to disturb her so they just peek under the hut with a flashlight to be sure all is ok and leave her be...which is what they've been doing however when u peek into the hut all u can see is a dark mass. They thought that mass was Abby, when in fact it was merely a pile of substrate. In the dark u can't tell the difference!
Anyway, we found Abby curled up in a ball under the couch! Thank God she didn't get INTO the couch or God forbid into the walls or basement or something! She's FREEZING but she's ok. We now have a HUGE rock on top of her cage..there's NO WAY she'll move that.
Double check your cages everyone!

Escape

LOL I have had several escapes. I always go nuts worried about my "babies".
I however found out the escape artist was not really my snakes but
my three year old son.
He was able to "unlock" any thing I put on the cages to keep my scale babies safe.
Finally had to install chains and pad locks to escape proof the cages LOL
It has worked so far until my little locksmith figures out how to get past the new system. He will be 4 in June, and I have my money on him getting around the security measures before then.
He only trys with "his" snakes the Bp's. He knows the snakes by name and knows who he can handle, so he simply feels they need a little time out of the "house".
We keep no hots, only Bp's and boas, and One baby Burm. He feels the burm and the Boas are not nice so he leaves them alone.

LOL, glad you found her, Lisa! It's absolutely AMAZING how strong even the little guys can be......and what escape artists they are.

I have only had 2 escape, and have yet to figure out how one of them got out....

woa, it's so scary when they escape. i've had my corn and ball both escape once each. the corn was stalking my roomate's female corn, but when lycaeus got out, my roomate was babysitting over the holidays and tore up my room looking for him. I find cage clips are REALLY useful if you are using a scren top aquarium:

they also benifit the screen by not bending or warping the mesh with a heavy object.

lol

i don't htink my 8 month bp is gong to escape but when i think of it you probobly didnt think your could ether. so im not going to take a chance with just a book and a rock.
