In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Almost finished setting this up. Need to add the timers, other lighting, substrate, etc and move it to it's permanent location.
What a project on a HOT day.

Not looking good sorry, i don't like the sand, sand causes impaction, will kill your beardie if you don't watch out, repti carpet is recommended.

It's not sand. It's crushed walnut and sand is fine with adult beardies.

are you nuts spj crushed walnut is like the most horrific thing you can put in your beardies cage.. thats the number 1 thing sand is better than that, but okay... your not going to change your mind from me, just do some research. I really hope yours don't become impacted.

I thought the walnut would be better than sand. Maybe not.
I just received this entire setup from the owners father (his son was just killed and they wanted someone to take the animal and setup).
I'll have to change out the substrate. Still have 2 unused bags as well. Maybe the petstore will take them on trade for crickets.
The dragon is beautiful but unfortunately he never got enough calcium and shakes a lot. I have changed his bulbs from regular fluorescents to UVB/UVA and started giving him calcium additives.

I use sand for my older beardies cage, but I still feed them crickets in a different tank, and have their greens raised on a platform in their cage to keep them from getting sand on them. His set up looks pretty sweet to me, I'd just be careful to make sure he gets all the crickets you drop for him to eat if you feed him in there, since they Do have places to hide and could possibly come back out later to nibble on your dragon.
I'd try getting him out in the sun if you could to help with the lack of calcium and the shakes, natural sun light does a lot of good for them. Just make sure he doesn't get too hot out there...I bring a mist bottle when I take my guys out for sun and lay them out on a towel so I don't have to worry about their undersides heating up too much either..
He looks pretty plump and content in there though :)

Personally, I don't like Repti-carpet, it can tangle in little claws. For my Leo Gecko, I use those individual tiles from the hardware store. Easy to wipe, feed on, no muss no fuss.

*beautiful animal!

I totally agree, in fact most of my beardies poop in the same place, so all i have to do is pull the one tile, clean it off and replace it. the other cool part about having a tile in the enclosure( make sure its upside down!) is that it abrades the claws. its like they have there own emery board, so you never have to worry about clipping there nails.I put cheap sheet vinyl down in the bottom of the cage with double sided vinyl tape too. the urates are a snap to clean up once a week with a mild bleach solution, and spot clean as needed. Its the most efficient setup i've found. you could probably get some pretty cool looking vinyl for the floor.
Just my .02.
Cool looking setup by the way man!!

I've never had any problems, yeah in my 55 gallon i have a 30 gallon repti carpet + a 12x12 at the end where the repti carpet doesn't reach :)

I tried out that repti carpet stuff and my dragons tried to eat it (I, of course, took it out of there very fast). I now use slate tiles for my adults and have never looked back!! They're the best. Like someone else said, they usually poop in the same spot, so I just take that tile out, hose it off, and let it dry. It keeps their nails down. You buy it once and it pretty much lasts forever. And personally, I think it looks really, really nice.
