    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok everyone...I have been thinking about getting a boa for a while...so today while looking in the local petstore and they had redtail boas for sale....150 dollars. Well I didnt' look twice would rather buy from a reputable breeder but then something caught my eye. No brown, no red, just like a light gray silver color with blacky brownish color where the red should be and all the diamonds on the back pure black. Could these be anery? What are the odds? Maybe they got a wrong shipment? Are there any other boas that are born light light silver that have no red on them? I looked at some boas at the other shop, pretty but they were just straight up red/brown/black. No silver. I really want to get one just because they are not "normal" looking. I would be interested to hear what people have to say about this. Thanks!
 
It could be a Type II Anerythristic. Any chance that you can get a picture to post? How old / how big is the animal?
 
Mike why do you have to add a type II to this LOL! What is that. I am actually going to buy one tomorrow. They are about 18-20" long I would guess. I actually asked the shop if they would feed one for me to see how they do and they ate a live pinky no problem so I know they are doing fairly well. This shop is actually pretty decent they even have a sign up welcoming comments so if their customers feel they know better they can say something. I figure at 150 even if they are just normals they are REALLY kewl looking at the very least.

There are two forms of recognized Anerythrism in boas.
Type I (more commonly seen in the pet trade) is represented by a lack of red pigment exhibiting a very "washed out" look.

Type I Anerythristic

Type II Anerythristic is represented by a lack of red pigment exhibiting a very dark look - much as you described in your initial post.

Type II Anerythristic (this particular animal is not from a proven bloodline of Type II Anerythristics, but the picture will help to illustrate the form)

Hope this helps to clarify things for you.
 
They look like the top color with the sharp pattern of the bottom if that makes any sense whatsoever. They have no tinge of brown to them at all.
