In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Another bear sighting last night

Bears in Florida...apparently I don't know squat about FL wildlife. Cool all the same.

If you hear anything at the door tonight, it might be this bear and not a trick-or-treater. Keep the candy inside and the door closed :)

They are something aren't they? I'll never forget as a kid, one came to the bird feeder just feet outside our picture window, stood on two legs and just ate his fill. See one about once a year there in the remote area of WNY. Haven't seen one in a while but I moved some hours away to the city.

Hah! In the 25 years Connie and I have lived here, we have NEVER had a trick-or-treater come to the door. We live in the middle of the woods with the house down a long winding driveway, and all the locals "know" we have snakes and guns. (We don't advertise that we have retired the snake business.) So I think some kid would have to be pretty desperate to show up here. Gosh, if someone DID show up here, I would probably have to give him or her a can of nuts or something. Or maybe an apple........ :hehe:

Or, perhaps a skunk ape.
THAT'S what I want to see on the trail cam.

But if you did, wouldn't it be nice to be the one to prove that they exist?

Probably I would have to spend the rest of my life trying to prove that I didn't fake the images. And even with absolute proof, not everyone would believe it.

Rich the Bears are very active this fall. I live on the other side of crawfordville near lower bridge and spring creek. And people are getting there trash cans knocked over nightly over here. We have three bears that frequent our neighborhood

Actually right after I wrote above I went out to the snake shed to check the heater because the power went out last night and this is what my trash can looked like this morning. I'm glad we have a bear resistant
can or I would have a big mess to clean up

Haven't spotted any bears the last several nights on the security cameras, but the security lights go off all of the time, indicating that something is prowling around. I did spot an armadillo night before last in the front yard.

I'm hoping the bears don't develop a taste for tangerines and lemons. I'm sure they would just destroy the trees by breaking the branches trying to get to them, and they would then get promoted from "nuisance to be tolerated" to "a problem that needs to be dealt with". I can't bring myself to just shoot them like I do the squirrels that got that same promotion a while back. I would hate to have to call FWCC to see if they would come out and bring equipment to trap them, but we've got too much time and effort into those citrus trees to just let them get destroyed. Heck, if a bear were to destroy Connie's pomelo tree, SHE would be grabbing a gun to go after the bears!

You know, nature and wildlife are wonderful things to have all around you, but once that all starts getting into your underwear (figuratively speaking) it sort of loses a lot of it's luster.
