In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So in other words, since YOU say so then it MUST be so? Interesting perspective, but not a unique one around here, I must say.

It is not that I don't understand you, which means we don't need repetition or expansion of your opinion, it simply means I just disagree. Someone calling someone else a "doofus", "nimrod" or anything else myself or the moderators determine to be derogatory name calling will be fined and suspended. Period. I do not consider "damn" or "damn it" to be profanity and will not interpret it such within the enforcement of the rules here.

And about your "priest" analogy. I have actually heard priests use that terrm "damn" in sermons. "Damnation" is very commonly uttered and I don't see them being struct down by lightning bolts in doing so.

And since you picked this word as being clear evidence of my violation my own rules, perhaps looking at the definition of the word "damn", may be instructive:

Well maybe I just missed it, but does anyone see anything at all in my rules about "swearing" or "cursing"?

Rich, with all due respect, don't insult the intelligence of the board by implying that your usage of the word "damn" (used as a verb) is the same as a priest uses it in his sermons (ie to be damned). The word "damn", in the manner in which you used it, is a violation of the TOS for profanity. Call it what you will Rich but I, and I am sure many others know that you are wrong here, even if you do not (which I doubt).

I've said my peace and don't plan on hitting my head against the ole brick wall more than what is necessary. Play the game however you want to but it is what it is, and we all understand how the game is being played (which is a shame as I expected better).

Sometimes the word "damn" is a must....

I don't believe I have ever warned a single soul for using the term "damn" in any context.
I agree. It is often required....

"Get your hands off me, you 'dat-brn' dirty ape"....
just doesn't cut it.

Hmmmm... I guess an easy way to determine if something is profanity or not could be whether or not 1.) you have had your mouth washed out with soap, or 2.) would you wash your kid's mouth out with soap, for saying it.

1) Yes
2) Yes

I actually agree with you Chris. By the same token, calling someone a "meanie head" just doesn't cut it either. :)

I don't recall ever calling someone a "damn".

Uhm, Chris, you missed that one. My original point started from someone being fined for using the name Nimrod hence my response to you. Hello, Mcfly? :raspberry

You just don't get the picture, do you? I wrote the TOS, so who better knows what I meant by it then me? You?? Well, excuse me, sir.......... I just didn't realize that.

Yeah, I know, I am wrong and you are right, because I am misinterpretting the TOS that I wrote, but you know better then I do what I meant by it. Silly me.......

Oh, I went to check on the warning points you got yourself for name calling and derogatory comments, but see that you abused your privilege of editing posts be removing that text. Cute.... But now I see why you are all fired up about this name calling issue....... Still an open sore, is it?

Sorry that you think this is some sort of game I am playing. I have stated what my intentions are in order to clean up this site, and your participation in this "game" is not optional if you wish to remain on this site. If you call someone a "doofus" on this site, you WILL get fined and suspended if I see it. Whereas saying something like "Damn your eyes, man!" will not. You don't have to agree with it and you don't have to like it, but you do have to abide by it here.

I do regret that you seem unable to grasp this concept and are taking it personal from your own warning points in the past.

Hello, Mcfly?
Is this any less sarcastic and antagonistic than "doofus" or "nimrod" etc. I submit that it is not. Your cloaked violation didn't make you any wittier than you think you are now.

Chris, somewhere along the yellow brick road, you lost your sense of humor. Did you not see my rasberry smiley (I noticed you conveniently deleted it from the quote)? It was an innocent comment since I had assumed you missed my original point. But, from your lack of Karma/warning points, I guess I assumed too much. My bad.

Puh-lease. That couldn't have been more condescending, smiley face or not, much like your yellow brick road comment. Funny, in my userCP, I currently have eleven positive and seven negative, some which were submitted in abuse of the system. My points were taken from my unjustifiable suspensions from Owens in the Felice, extorion, lies etc. thread. My history here displays my "assumptions" to be on the mark as of yet.

Griz....

How provocative! I see you've given me a negative Karma for not being on your side of the fence here. Not suprising.

Are you always looking for a fight? Good grief!
This is the message that accompanied your negative karma point that I got. I clearly came here in a lighthearted manner. I simply stated my opinion after you engaged me. No fight there. I'd say your constant defiance of the webslave here in your quest to make a "statement" for all to see is "looking for a fight". First you were antagonistic toward me with your "Mcfly" reference, then you abuse the Karma system. Just my opinion.

I am not familiar with that reference of "Mcfly". Would anyone care to explain what it means? There is some indication that this may be made in a derogatory sense.

McFly was used in Back to the Future. It was the term that one of the main characters stated to Michael J Fox's father when he gave them a headlock. It simply means, duh. Hence the raspberry comment, as in haha. There's nothing derogatory about it.

Griz

Never mind....

"Mcfly" is used popularly as an analogy of a "nimrod", "weakling", "doofus" etc. as he is portrayed in the movie "Back to the Future". Griz' explanation is the watered down version. He knows it.

Interesting distortion of reality Chris. You want people to believe that I gave you negative Karma for being on the "wrong side of the fence." Nothing could be further from the truth. I gave you negative Karma points because you always seem to be looking for a fight, ala Felice thread. My comments here were kept light hearted and on the up and up until such time that you decided to distort reality, par for the course I might add.
