    =====================

I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

Used bait and switch tactics, to get more money out of me. He almost got me for $1500.00.
Warning, this guy is very good at what he does! I live in Las Vegas and I've experienced a lot people come up with all sorts of schemes to separate me from my money. He's a real player
that's for sure. He does business out of California. No seller of reptiles in 20 years has ever tried to rip me off, until this man. My advice to anybody who wants to purchase reptiles out of state is to get several references first, no matter how bad you want that reptile. If there trying to run a scam on you, they will hear in your voice how much you want the reptile and the game is on.
My experience with people like this, helped me from losing a lot of money to this guy. This is supposed to be a enjoyable hobby! I lost a lot of sleep over this. I hope this post helps people avoid scams like this in the future
which are thankfully rare. We should all expect and demand professional and most importantly of all, ethical business practices from our sellers in this fabulous hobby we all enjoy. If your looking to buy a reptile, I have professionals that I have personally done business with, who are honest and will provide excellent service and support. You can contact me Steve Hogue at my email address [email protected]. Thanks for reading my post.

While not required, it is recommended that you share evidence (emails, text messages, etc.) to support your claim. Would also be helpful for people who may want to avoid Anthony if you provide his location and contact information (email, website, etc.)

I chose not to go that deep, because of potential legal backlash. I've been buying reptiles since the 1980's and never experienced anything like this before. The story goes far deeper than I explained. I got a good reference on him from somebody I knew, who has a good reputation in this industry. His behavior has prevented me from doing business with the person who gave him a good reference. See this is turning into a soap opera!

I would hope so, as you have explained nothing.

Your doing.

I'm just curious, what legal backlash would you get for posting proof that someone scammed you? As long as your claims are true I can't see anything negative happening if you post evidence of the scam.

I have known Anthony since he was practically a kid. Anthony is not a scammer. There was no money that exchanged hands Steve. Since no money had exchanged hands, and because up to then it was just talk, I don't see how you can say Anthony has scammed you. As I said to you on the phone last night, and you seemed to agree, anyone should have the right change their mind about selling a reptile. I sold those iguanas to Anthony. Anthony called me to let me know that they had just started breeding. After a short discussion, Anthony decided to keep them as it is egg-laying season and they will probably lay soon. When I spoke with you last night, it seemed like you were ok with that as I told you that I have some 2.5 year cbb born ones that I may list soon. You said thanks and our conversation ended.

Thank you for shedding some light on the situation. Appears that the OP was lined up to purchase an iguana (or more) and then Anthony changed his mind about the sale without any money being exchanged? If true, agree that this does not sound like scamming though I could understand if the OP was upset that the possible sale fell through.

It is your choice, at the same time don't be surprised if people do not believe you or chose not to listen due to the lack of evidence.

If you truly want to warn others about someone shady in this industry proof would be a must otherwise it's just talk with no backing making you and your motives questionable as well.

What a way to be as vague as possible.

Thank you, Linda, for giving some info on this situation.

OP, sounds like sour grapes on your end, because the seller choose to keep the animals instead of sell them. That happens all the time in this business. Since no money exchanged hands, the label of scammer is incorrect.

Maybe you "chose not to go that deep" because of potential backlash here.

If what you are saying is true, then stating the facts won't have a "legal backlash" on you. Posting a vague statement calling someone a scammer and not providing any evidence is what some might call defamatory.

I would just call it not worth paying attention to, since we have no idea what happened. Most people here are not going to decide someone is a "bad guy" based on one post without any information. They might decide the OP is questionable though, and avoid dealing with that person.

I've known Anthony for quite some time now and have spoken with back and forth plenty of times whether it was on YouTube or here. He's always had some great looking animals and is one stand up individual.

I have a very hard time believing a word you've written, and would love to see some sort of proof. Your fear of legal backlash is pointless, and cowardly - most probably because there is no proof.

Judging by the last couple of sentences in your original post, it almost sounds as though you are advertising yourself and trying to direct others towards you instead of Anthony - nice one.

On top of all this, you joined this month and your first post was pretty much made by creating this thread yet you claim to have been in the business for so long?

I don't believe anything in your post, make myself and others believe you by posting proof.

We should all expect and demand professional and most importantly of all, ethical business practices

Those expectations should be for everyone. By not posting either details or proof of your allegations and using some ridiculous excuse for not doing so, you are not achieving the expectations most have here. While it is permissible to merely make a vague accusation, you may not get much support.

What you did achieve in my opinion was a whine that you expect critters to be held for you without a deposit. The MINUTE you decide you want a critter, get the seller's Paypal address and send some $$.
If you ask the sellers here how many of them have had a possible customer say that they want a critter and then are never heard from again, almost every hand in the house would be raised.

Money talks. You know what walks.

I 100% agree with you Lucille .. I done multiple business with Anthony and everyone of them are perfect ! No prob.. When I saw this post I just had to reply .. This guy is one
The good guys :) .... If no money transaction is made then a seller can change their mind .. If I have a pair of lizards for sale and she started mating or without my knowledge gravid and drop eggs .. ( no money trans was made ) then I assure you they are staying period :) but saying a scammer lol!! Is wrong !! This guy is not a scammer ..

I've known Anthony for many, many, years, and in my opinion we need many more like him in this industry.

Not only is he a CLASS ACT, his critters are ALL TOP SHELF!

NO ONE comes any better than Anthony!

Steve I understand you are disappointed and upset, I am truly sorry you feel the way you do.

Your blatant response is a reflection of your character, not only are you over reacting, but your responses are quite foolish and VERY DRAMATIC….

You are talking about being a professional in this business, with over 30 years of experience?? Well you had me fooled; I have dealt with kids with a higher level of professionalism than yourself.

Anyhow…….

Steve inquired about a Ctenosaurus Pectinata that I had available for sale online….
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=568096

He asked me if I had a male available for sale to pair up with this female.

I informed him that I did, but was not 100% positive I wanted to sell him, I provided him with my direct phone number.

Steve called me on Tuesday and we spoke briefly about the Iguanas, I informed him that I had several interested buyers that inquiredabout the listed female, prior to his response, about the female Ctenosaurus Pectinata, and out of courtesy the iguana was pretty much sold, he offered to pay me more but I declined the offer.

He was interested in my hold back pair, and from the initial conversation, I did inform Steve that I was still on the fence about selling the pair, however if someone made me a reasonable offer, I’d consider selling them.

We did talk about the possibility of selling the holdback pair and possibly shipping out on Monday if I decided to proceed with the sale, after being paid of course.

I told him I would have to think about the offer and would get back to him, I told Steve that I would contact him before Monday with my decision.

I offered the pair, because I wanted the space and was considering some other animals, but I did not receive a payment to secure the animals.

I had some time to really think it over, and decided to keep the pair and hold off on the sale after seeing them breed.

When I made my final decision to keep the pair, I sent Steve the following message.

Steve was clearly disappointed by my decision and decided to text me the following message, which I felt was very unnecessary, inappropriate and very immature for a man of his age, and “Professional Demeanor”..

At 5:59am, he sends me another 5 text messages that rudely awoke me and my wife.

As a seller, I should have contacted Steve sooner, but was not sure about my decision until yesterday.

The bottom line here is That I NEVER COMITTED TO THE DEAL WITH STEVE, NOR DID I TAKE ANY MONEY FROM HIM OR LET ALONE EVEN TRY AND SCAM HIM.

I was ALWAYS on the fence about selling the holdback Iguana Pair and I told Steve this from the very beginning.

STEVE, YOU SAY I SCAMMED YOU????

HOW?????

DID I TAKE MONEY FROM YOU AND DISAPPEAR????

I can understand if i took a deposit from you and then canceled, but this was not the case, you say I tried "to get more money out of me" ??? (I did not accept any money from you period, not even a penny)

SHOW ME PROOF, SHOW ALL OF US PROOF AS TO HOW I SCAMMED YOU.

You must have alot of spare time to really go out of your way and accuse someone of non sense, stop being a drama queen and get it over.

Regards,
Anthony Sainz

Steve,

We've now heard from several people who have done business with Anthony, stating they've had perfect transactions.

More information is needed from you. You were deliberately vague in your original post and any details we have, have been provided by another party. This does not bode well for you, as to the veracity of your claim that Anthony is a scammer that almost took you for $1500.

The fact that you have not addressed any questions or requests for more details on the supposed transaction/scam, makes you suspect; maybe not for dishonesty, but for spiteful bad guy posting. You thought you were going to get a pair of animals, one possibly being gravid, with no effort on your part.

Thank you, Anthony.

The situation is exactly as I though and that is the reason Steve has not provided details on his issue with you.
