    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Anyone else feel like throwing their computer against a wall???

I'm about ready to toss this computer! The darn thing keeps crashing, ok, explorer keeps crashing and locking up the whole computer in the process. Shutting down the system via the start button has become a thing of the past! Its an old system, i'm still running Win 98 (1st edition) so its no wonder nothing working. And yes, by all means laugh. Its pretty pathetic that i've held on to this thing for this long. But now i've had it! I've just uploaded some new pics to my web page. They turned out dark, but still, i should be able to see them when i view the page. Nope! So if someone doesn't mind venturing into dangerous territory LOL could you check to see if the pics are actually showing up at all or are just the black blobs that i see? I don't know if i can post the URL here, so i won't but the link is in my profile. The pics are in my reptile album and are of one leo, two aft's and my crested male Zeus. I'm so annoyed that i can't see them!

I guess i could upgrade the computer but i dont see the point. A new system would cost just as much as the amount of upgrading this computer needs. Now to just come up with enough money to make this happen sooner than later!

the 4 newest pictures are extremely dark. The leo is dark but tolerable but the last 4.....dark blobs. :hehe:

That actually makes me feel better. At least its not just my computer lol

I'll retake some pics tonight and post them up tomorrow. I still find it so weird that these ones would turn out so dark. The flash was on and so was the lamp right next to us. All of the geckos were great for the pics, i doubt i'll get that again LOL. Oh well.

hehehe, i've already got my eyes on a new system. Unfortunetly its a holiday up here in Canada so i have to wait until tomorrow to call the store. I've gone to their web site a few times now and im just itching to go down to the store. Luckily the day i get paid is the day they are open late :)

Hopefully i'll have enough money to bring home the system this week. If not it'll be another two weeks but it is going to happen :)

What brand is it and what are the stats(i.e. mobo, chipset, ram, hd, processor, anything you might remember).
 
:rofl: I have been up since 9:30 last night. 3rd shift is a mofo but since I have the day off I like to enjoy the sunlight.

Well lets see, compaq deskpro, 192mb ram, 3.21 GB hd. intel pentium 2 processer. does that help?

I am using a very old monitor......an *AAMAZING* if that helps :)
 
Those are the specs from the one i am using right now. i'm actually surprised it hasn't crashed yet.

Ummmmmmmm its best i log off.......i just realized theres a nasty storm outside (one of the crappy things about living in a basement is that i don't get to see much going on outside). Anyways, with the lightening i should log off.

I'll be back after this passes. :) Maybe i'll be able to catch some nice strikes. I've always wanted to take pics of lightening :)

The camera is new, needs charging but it wasn't the problem......having the white balance set to cloudy doesn't help. i switched it to incandescent and its working better. i messed with the pics, tried to brighten them up but i don't think it really worked. i'm not even going to upload them again. i'll just take new pics :)
