    =====================

    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    =====================
    Some people have indicated that finding the method to contribute is rather difficult. And I have to admit, that it is not all that obvious. So to help, here is a thread to help as a quide. How to become a contributing member of FaunaClassifieds.

    And for the record, I will be shutting down the Google Adsense ads on January 1, 2025.

OK, I can tell the snake here is OBVIOUSLY different from a normal arabesque boa: http://www.kingsnake.com/boamorphs/sunburst.htm . That's an awesome animal, and a "no brainer." However, I'm seeing a lot of "sunburst Arabesque" boas being sold that look like nothing more than an arabesque with a little extra yellow. Some of these are still heavily speckled.

My question is: what is the defining difference between a sunburst arabesque and a regular arabesque? I know that sunbursts are supposedly brighter and lighter, but that is kinda vague and arbitrary. How do you look at an arabesque and decide which ones to call a sunburst and which ones to not call a sunburst? Where is the line? Help!

For example, the one in the below images was not necessarily a sunburst, but it came from breeder that produces lots of sunbursts. Now, I see LOTS of "sunbursts" that are less like a sunburst than this one. Soooo, how do you tell?

Thanks in advance for your help! Sorry about the crappy photos (especially #2), but I took them at dusk last night in the cold, so I was rushed!

I would not classify that one in your photo as a Sunburst, it does not look at all like the described Sunburst Arabesque. From what I see is that the Sunburst Arabesque has a lot less speckling. If you compare your picture with the link you provided, there is no speckling between the saddles on the boa's back, and a minimal amount of speckling on it's side. Also a lot more pink coloration.

The Sunburst boa, from what I gather is a Pastel, though I could be wrong, there is not much info on them and reading the description, the Sunburst is describing a Pastel. More coloration, pink and orange, and little speckling.

So if one breeds a Pastel with an Arabesque, I would suspect a Sunburst Arabesque. Name given since Hammond breed them out in 1997 and named them. Otherwise they would be a Pastel Arabesque. 11 years can change things in breeding and in people's minds about what they have.

Anyone know more on these?

Part of the reason is that these are Steve's stock, but I doubt we'd ever get more info on them.....and they have less speckling / more color that some of the ones he is selling as "sunburst Arabesque" boas. If this isn't a sunburst, then why not when others being sold that way are less colorful with more speckling....HENCE my confusion!

Thanks!

That is a good question. It seems he has not improved Sunburst Arabesque line all that well then.

Don't know much about them Myself. I like Arabs, but I never even heard of a "Sunburst" Arabesque till this thread.

Your best bet for trying to find a defining line between the two, is to contact the original creator of the Sunburst line.

In relation to the reason I'm asking, I don't think that would be the best course of action.....lol. I'd rather know what the general herp community thinks of the morph since the general community should be rather unbiased....I hope!
