In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyone vegetarian in here?

It depends on if you want vegan or vegetarian...

The best cookbook I have seen for fun new recipes is my sons. It's called The Redwall Cookbook by Brian Jacques. Redwall is a series of childrens books that are extrememly descriptive with foods. This cookbook is fabulous. Mostly vegetarian dishes.

My favorite food so far is:

Gourmet Garrison Grilled Leeks

1 1/2 lbs Leek (cleaned and chopped into 1 1/2 in lengths)
2 tbsp softened unsalted butter (we use margarine)
1 tbsp grated pamesan cheese (we double that)
2 tspn dijon mustard

Preheat the broiler on your oven
Parboil the leek in salted water for 10 minutes
Drain the leek and put them in a greased shallow oven-proof dish

In a bowl cream together the butter, cheese and mustard.
Spread the mixture over the leeks.
Broil till golden brown, about 3 minutes.

This mixture is great for most of your green vegetables and is also wonderful on bread.

I am vegetarian, not vegan, but I am always looking for meals with more protein. Does that book have fairly well balanced dishes?

It has 37 total recipes. There are a few drink recipes, several desserts, soups and side dishes. There is one recipe that has shrimp in it, a soup, and it is fantastic.

As far as nutritional value, I wouldn't consider most of the recipes as a protein providers but rather as side dishes. We do make a meal of the Shrimp and Hotroot soup. It has turnips, potatoes, onion, leek, milk, shrimp, and is seasoned with curry powder. There is also a nice vegetable bean soup.

I can't really say anything in it is not good for you. Everything has fresh produce in it and the more I look at the recipes the more I want to make them.

We got the book from Amazon.com as they had the best price and bought it used. I believe it was $14 shipped. It has proven worthy of the price. They currently have three copies on amazon for just under $10+ $3.99 shipping.
