    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Are parasites easy to detect?

I know that you should quarantine a new gecko to be sure it doesn't have parasites, but how easy is it to see them? If a gecko has them would they wiggle around or would u need to break open a fecal sample? I was just wondering because I have never seen them and was just wondering if I could be overlooking them.
 
I don't know too much about parasites but I do know that most of the time you can't see them. I only saw tape worm once when my uromastyx had them. But I have had other reptiles infected with different parasites and I couldn't find any but fecal tests came back positive. Hope that helps.
 
Oh and another clue to parasites caould be runny stinky poo...but they don't always have that when they have them too.
 
I think you might be able to see worms' eggs with the naked eye. The worms themselves stay inside the gecko's body, so you couldn't see them. I think all the other parasites that they can get are microscopic. The only way to know for sure if your gecko has them would be to take them to a reputable vet. Even if it comes back clean, still keep your gecko quarantined for the 90 days and then have the vet do a second fecal so you know for sure that they are clean. Sometimes the parasites don't show up right away, which is why the second fecal is done. Hope this helps.
