In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

At what age/size to sell.

Since this will be my first year selling my babies, :( that is if I can part with any of them. I was wondering when is it safe to say they are strong enough to be sold and shipped. At this point I don't have any that I'll be selling, as the two I have are hold backs, but once I do have some that I know I will be selling, this is will be something that's good to know.

Do you go by age, size or both?

Well...I haven't shipped, but I can tell you what I expect to be shipped to me, and what I plan to do in the future. I would wait for a least 15g for shipping. This way you know the gecko has had many good meals, a few sheds, and it should have started some fat reserves for "just in case". Very few of the geckos I've had shipped to me have been under 15g.

When working with certain traits, it helps to hold on longer so you get a better idea what the adult version will look like. I bet a large number of people here can tell you a story about this so-so baby they sold that turned out to be a killer adult.

I would wait until about 15 grams as well.... Also, the longer you hold on to a leo the better you can tell how it will turn out... Then you can give it the proper lable and price tag..... I have leos that were pretty spotty at 15 gram but at 25 grams turned out to be SHTCTBs..... One of my best SHTCTBs I produced was brown and yellow as a baby and was a bit spotted up until it was about 20 or so grams.... Now she is one of my cleanest super hypos.... Not much in the way of carrottail but the cleaness and color does not get much better than that.... If I do say so myself...LOL

Here she is now

Thanks Shanti and Gregg. I was figuring that was a good size. Any one have a concern on age?

Gregg, these are the two I'm holding on to so far, cause I'm sure they will be SHTCTB like mom, and 100% het albino. The one on the bottom will most likely be near baldy since it developed a spot on it's head. They are 7.7 and 9.8 grams and 20 days.

We've found that some of ours didn't start showing their true colors until 2-3 months of age. We're going with 2 months old (conditional, the person buying has to demonstrate good knowledge) before selling locally, 3 months for shipping, and a minimum weight of 20g. Given our location we also have to wait for the warmer months lol.

Gregg - she's a real beauty, fat and sassy like ours! ;) Is it just me, or is she still developing a bit more CT there? Looks like a lot of those dark tail spots are still going orange...

Yeah Dee... good answer for us... but I figured I would use an example, since I could lol...

This girl is about three weeks old here, about 10 grams and not looking very nice at all... she was a problem starter with eating and wasn't really showing a lot of promise....

And here she is just 2 months later....

She's ready to go now though!

Thanks guys. So it's safe to say that for health reasons, 15-20 grams and a couple months is good. That is putting aside, holding any back to see what they will develop into.

Cory, I love how that one developed, nice!

I rarely sell a gecko under 15 grams... more like 20-25. I like to make sure they are very well established, eating like savages, and beginning to show their adult coloration and markings.

One good thing Ron Tremper does, LOL one of few, is if you look at his available gekcos, he normalld doesnt sell till 7-8 months old. Just a raondom question, is there a weight chart of what a geckos weight should be at a ceartin age?
