    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all. Anyone have experience with this ear infection? My German Shepard has already been treated in one ear for this blood clot. I now believe it is occuring in the opposite ear.
Was a wopping 700$ for the first surgery, but since i caught this one early i hope it will be cheaper, since it is not as big.

aural hematomas are caused when the ears are shook so often that the blood vessels in the layers of the pinna(ear) become irritated and break open. if your gsd has a history of chronic ear infections that could be the reason why this has happened. surgery varies depending on the extent of the hematoma and the doctor's prefernce. you could also not treat it and allow the ear to heal itself but it does make the ear become cauliflowered in appearance. more for the dog's comfort do the surgery and get the hematoma drained.

I know this thread is a little old but I missed it when it first came out. Since you took your dog to the vet, then it probably doesn't have this but. . . My cat had ear mites which caused her to shake her head violently causing a hematoma. (Like you already said, Techgirl) A vet visit to drain the blood & stitch up the ear and some ear mite medicine and she was like new.
