In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

ok this is the only clutch i have ever had this prob with. i can feed them soft pellets and watch them eat them, then greens and they eat them and after alll that they still insist on eating the tails of almost the entire clutch.no matter what i do ? i have even gotten as bad as to move them to where is no more than 3-4 per tub and still insist on eating eachother.almost all babies out of 28 eggs are tail nips now 1 even tried to eat one in entirety i cam home to see half a dragon hanging out of the others mouth.????? what is up with this i have almost 100 babies around here and this clutch is the only one who does this? mother is citrus het trans and father was hypo from dichu? will add some pics later on. any help would be thanked.
Also i have 1 babies that hatched 1 week ago that today decided he was going to poop his guts out and i mean that! it looks as if his penile ore sticking out and he cant get back in ?? never seen this ??

emergency

Hey Matt...what happened to the baby is a rectal prolapse...straining to eliminate and it popped out.He needs to see a vet ASAP...he will not survive. If you CAN't get him in,try gently rinsing with warm water, get a q-tip with a tiny smidge of vaseline or just water and SO GENTLY push back in.I have done this about 2-3 times with a baby in 14 yrs. and they always survived...then don't sell that baby for at least a month or so to make sure it doesn't recur.Matt, this problem indicates that they either are constipated or have parasites.INCREASE the water...some breeders say to just soak once or twice a week but this is incorrect..you must spray the babies at least twice a day.If you increase water, this will help with possible constipation.Finely chopped greens with every meal.As for biters..increase veggies and feed crickets in A.M. if you don't already..your guys may be hungry and when one gets a taste of fillet of toe or tail, they ad it to their diet.[ Could also be one or two aggressive ones in there]Hope this helps...Angie

Hey Angie, It seems I'm always following you around, adding my 2 cents! Haha!

Matthew,
I agree with everything Angie said. I'll just add a few suggestions. 1st the prolapse. I make a puddle of cool water, just high enough to cover the tail base, add approx 2-3 spoons of sugar and mix in. Sit the dragon in it and don't leave him alone because he could fall asleep in it and drown. Check him after 5 minutes or so to see if it's gone in. Misting him to get him drinking will help.
If it doesn't go in by it's self, follow Angie's method of vaseline and tucking it in. You should give them baths at least once a week, and not hot water or that could cause it to pop out again. He should outgrow it. If it's dried up or damaged he'll need a vet. On bigger lizards they sometimes sew a stitch on each side of the vent to help prevent it from coming out.
I mist the babies twice daily for atleast 5 minutes, to get them drinking, and if you put a low bowl in there and squirt in the water they'll jump in and play.
Some bloodlines are more aggressive than others. They need more space, more crickets, and seperate the biggest ones. Once they figure out toes and tails taste good, it's hard to keep them together so I try not to let it happen.
Good luck!

ty for the advice guys . i called bloodbank dragons and he said he had never seen it and that the dragons would most likely die.
i mist all dragons 2 times a day with room tem to hot water cause as i spery it cools and dosent send them into shock.
as far as feeding i feed them home grown mustard greens and store bought collerd greens daily with some banana in the mix sometimes.
i honestly have stoped using crickets on mmy babies due to probs with impaction. my pet store near me only can get me 1/4 in. crickets and thats just to big for my 2-4 week olds ive lost 3 dragons in 2 months due to this prob or at least what i thik is impaction.
they arch back gape mouth and act as if someone is stabing them or somthing i have been soakind daily in warm water and massaging stomach as well as holding vent open a lil and helping some fluids out.
do dragons have to have crickets or is their another way other than bugs for them to get what they need.
i cant keep loosing babies and getting nips this has to stop for the sake of the lil ones.
ive read and read all about dragons but nothing is better than your help in these maters.
i thank you all for help and advise it will only help.
pics of babies from same clutch as biters last pic is hold back from clutch they are just now like 2-3 weeks.

Matt, the dragon may die anyway but you can try the suggestions...well the crickets being too large are a problem...you should have them shipped...Ghann's has very low price for breeders if you can prove you are...look on their website for the "great" program. You can also get a colony of roaches.I have never raised dragons without crix..very difficult. Also, make sure that the tougher greens, like collard are FINELY chopped because that most likely can cause impaction too if swallowing a big piece or part of a stem.

well the second clutch from same paring hatched about 3 weeks ago and well they alllll have nips again and as i said i split them up in 3's feed dubia and greens AND they eat pellets but still eat tips of tales. thankfully not near as bad.i have decided its the cross as i dont have that problem with any other crosses i have lol. bummer.

it is possible that there is something in their genetics that predisposes them to being nippy.

i have a single baby that hatched from a clutch where the male was a italian leather quad het and the female was a OGG double het. This baby is the biggest biter i have ever seen. I venture to bet that if any of other eggs had been fertile and hatched out i wouldnt be able to have them together at all.

just a thought could this be adeno. I have heard dragons with adeno act like they have something in there mouth and they become ravenous and want to eat everything tails toes your finger when approaching the cage.....and that would bea reason for some dieing. maybe time to test the parents there is a sit that tests for 25.00 now

they show no signs of aggression or anything act like all other dragons i have ever had.all my parents go to vet for regular check ups but not sure if tested for andio i will look into it more. glad to say all other dragons are doing fine no real nips or anything im thinking mom has some german giant in her she is huge.. ty all for responses.

I'm a gecko chick, but I've used the sugar water soak for one of my males who constantly amuses himself when he's bored. The hemipenes hang out for hours-sometimes days if I don't catch him quickly.

IT WORKS.

5 to 15 minutes at a time...them k-y jelly or surgical lubricant-NOT vaseline.

You can lube him up good to keep him moist to take him to the vet, too.

I hope your dragon gets his butt back in!!!

Actually,to gently push it back in on a beardie,I have put on a latex glove, wet with warm water and apply slight pressure until it pops back in in about 10-30 seconds...have done so with several that never popped back out..all methods mentioned obviously worked for someone.
