In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Will this blizzard ever become all white or did I purchase the wrong kind?

For an actual white colour you'd need a blazing blizzard which I believe are rather high-end.

Normal blizzards can change color depending on mood. Some tend to stay dark (yours and mine), while others tend to stay light. You can try putting him in a temporary cage with a white paper towel on the bottom. Mine, who are normaly gray like yours, will often go white (probably more from the excitement than anything else) when I do this. Blazings are nice because they are white all the time, but they also seem to be very light sensitive so you don't get to see them out and about much. Tremper blazings are pretty reasonable, mine was about $100 last year, so you can probably get one for much less this year ;)

I was in Petsmart (although that's not where I bought my blizzard) and they had a pair of Blizzards that were extremely white. I figured from that and some of the pictures lying around the internet that both Blizzards and Blazing Blizzards could be white. I actually ordered mine from a well known place which I will not mention and was misinformed as to what the Blizzard I ordered looked like. I will most likely just buy another one (white this time) once I know for sure the sex on this one.

You're blizzard could very well have been white / lighter with his previous owner. They can undergo considerable changes in color depending on mood. I tried to get white blizzards too. Mine, however, decided that they want to be dark. If you want a white blizzard, a blazing is your best bet.

Well nevermind the color I have a different problem now. I haven't seen him eat anything yet. At first I wasn't keeping track and had him in the enclosure with the rest of my geckos. But since realizing I have placed him in his on enclosure and counted out the crickets so I can keep track. What can I do to make him eat.

when did you get him James? They tend to not eat much for a few days when you first get them. They just need a little time to acclimate. As long as a new leo doesn't start dropping any real weight from not eating it shouldn't be a problem ,at least that has been my experience with the 5 that I have.

You really should quarentine new geckos for 30 to 90 days (90 days is much safer) in case they're carrying something. This also gives them the chance to get settled in without the stress of cagemates.

Not all leos do well on sand. I'd recommend removing it from his enclosure and watch his feces. If he's got a belly full of sand, he may not be hungry. If you see sandy poos, there's a good chance that that is part of the problem.

You should also remove any uneaten crickets after about 15 - 30 minutes and store them in a container separate from your other feeders. Crickets are notorious poo eaters and can spread parasites between geckos so you want to minimize the risk to your other leos. Crickets will also lose the benefits of gutloading if you let them wander for extended periods and can end up annoying the gecko.

In addition, some geckos raised on mealworms don't like crickets. Try some mealworms in a bowl too. You could also try waxworms (only in moderation since they can be addictive).

Look carefully at the poos. Runny poos can be indicative of parasite problems which can cause lack of appetite. Your guy does look healthy in your pictures, with a good amount of tail fat so hopefully the loss of appetite is just due to all of the recent changes. Setting him up on his own, and removing the sand (at least until you get him eating consistantly) would be good first moves.

Good luck!

I've had him for about a week. About a day ago or so I removed him from the cage with the rest of the geckos and put him in a 10 gal aquarium by himself and no sand just paper towels. The store I got him from said they fed him crickets. I'm gonna run out right now and get some mealworms and see if that helps. I think he's holding weight alright but I'm not sure.

You should do a full cage cleaning on the other tank in case he left any "cooties" behind, if you haven't already.

Stores like Office depot sell cheap postage scales. They make great tools for monitoring weight. You're new set-up for him sounds great. Hopefully he'll start eating for you soon.

Good luck!
Alice
