    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well, some of you know I got my first ever clutch of ball eggs back in May,from a pastel to normal breeding.
There were 4 eggs in the clutch, and one of those went bad and started stinking in the first 3 days and was removed and tossed.
About 2 weeks ago, over night another egg deflated. Because the eggs were cemented together, I decided to wait it out and see if it effected the other eggs at all. Yesterday I made the call to cut it free from the other two, as the mold had spread to almost touching them. Now, this was an egg that was green, moldy, HARD and looked like a raisin.
I cut holes in the side of it to get it away from the others.
On the way to the trash can, I kinda pulled at one of the holes and ripped it open. Curiosity had gotten the best of me, and I wanted to see what stage the baby had made it to before it died.
There wasn't the "funk" I expected that I had gotten from the first egg that went bad.
When I peeked in and saw scales, my heart kind of sank.
I opened it a little more and heard a gasp for air. I put my finger in the egg and could feel a heart beat.
So now I have this 17 day early baby ball.
He looks well developed, but is VERY small. THere is a lot of yolk.
I lined a cup with saturated paper towels, and added a bit more water. I then placed what was left of the shell with the baby in it in there.
I have placed wet peper towels over the top, but left a hole for him to breath,
he is back in the incubator.
He seems to be breathing fine, and responds to being touched.
This morning he even pulled his head back under the paper towel when I opened the cup.
If there is anyone with experience with stuff like this, and I am missing something, please let me know.
Here he is. He has peper towel over him most tof the time to trap in moisture. I just pulled it off for the pic.

I'm not seeing what the problem with the egg was in that picture...looks pretty good to me.
From your description, the little one seems to be doing as well as could be expected...not really anything left to do but wait & see.

oh - about the current set up - you lined a cup with saturated paper towels and added more water...how much more water is in there? I don't think you have to worry about too much moisture at this point, I just tend to shy away from extremes.
 
The egg looks a lot better than it did. I delicately scrubbed off most of the muck, not knowing how the mold would effect the now open egg, I used germ-x hand sanitizer and a soft toothbrush. I got a little carried away, but I am trying to keep it as clean as I can. It had brown, flourescent green and yellow patches, and was hard, but brittle. It kind of flaked off as I peeled. It had colapsed to less than half the size of the other eggs, and had no fluid in it other than yolk. The snake was stuck to itself, so I think it probably would have died in there anyway. I assumed it was dead just looking at the egg.Where creases were formed when it colapsed 2 weeks ago clear windows were forming, with mold around the edges of those. The other 2 are like tight water ballons.
The paper towels are saturated to the point they can't absorb more water, and there is about 1/8 inch of standing water in the bottom of the cup.
