In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I had just talked to the the guy who maintains the Facebook page for San Diego Ball python group, Diego, about having a greet and meet. Has any other communities done this, and what was the outcome? There are so many people breeding and even just having pets in every community that it benefits everyone. People can make connections for breeding projects. You can make connections for future purchases or sales. It is easier to buy local saving shipping and Paypal fee's, so everyone wins there. When the bigger guys or pet stores get involved it gets everyone a better buying power. If you can make a big group purchase on bedding, rodents, cages you will get a better deal. Much like a car club, you can have a monthly meeting in different areas or a central location. It's a good way to make friends as well since you have something in common. I know for me, I would make someone local a better deal so I get cash in hand and don't have to ship. As a buyer I like being able to see the snake and shake the hand instead of send money and wait for a box. Plus anyone wanting to go to a show but might not have someone to go with can split gas with someone. Another good thing is everyone does something different in their lives and may be able to help you with other things and vice versa.......a Plummer, contractor, website builder. Lets hear some feedback, and if your in San Diego area and want to join us contact me:thumbsup:

We have an Oregon chat group on facebook, and an Oregon classifieds group also
Washington also has a group.
They work out fairly well for some sales, especially lower end morphs.

there were a group of us from the Kingsnake Boa forums that used to have a yearly BBQ, it was a lot of fun and generally spur of the moment. Sadly a lot of those guys aren't into reptiles anymore. But we'd meet up, some people would bring snakes to show off, some deals were made, good times had by all. :)

oh I found the pics, you can see we were able to get quite a good group, not everyone was there for the entire time which is why there's two pics. You may recognize some of these guys as they are now into Ball Pythons. :)
and yes the one girl is me LOL

You scared me for a second there........when it loaded only this first picture showed. I was trying to figure out which one looked the most like you without implants:D

We used to do this in the electronic cigarette community (Yes, there's an eCig community!). It was a blast to hang out with others that share your interests, but a PITA to find a venue. Local Herp clubs would be cool, but also a nightmare if people wanted to bring their animals to show off...

That sounds like a lot of fun and I really hope you're able to make it happen! :D

We had a get-together a few weeks back, supposedly about eighty people showed. I personally heard about it through this group http://www.meetup.com/The-Reptile-Club/events/104566582/ but I believe there were a few different organizations there. There was food, drinks, and a reptile themed raffle. The owner of LLL Reptile gave a powerpoint presentation on Tanzanian herps and afterwards even held a little "class" on snake probing.
I'm too much of a germaphobe to bring my own animals out, I just go because I love meeting others who share my interest in them. We don't exactly have the most popular hobby, so I think this sort of community is indispensable. <3

I'm wishing you guys the best of luck with your ball python meet-up!

I wish we still had this in the Milwaukee area, but some unfortunate events caused by inexperienced and deceptive hobbiests/breeders have driven a lot of our legitimate reptile community underground.

I hear you. I am working with the guy who runs the San Diego ball python Facebook page to put something together for this coming Saturday the 4th and hope we have a good turn out. I hope that everyone comes with reality in mind. I am hoping that everyone gets together for group purchases that everyone wins from, and if anything good times

Our issues have more to do with improperly kept animals getting extremely negative media attention. A 20 year old kid got bitten by his gaboon viper and has no antivenin, then they confiscated 30+ more venemous animals from his bedroom. Animals were in horrible conditions. Four months later same thing happens again after he looses a finger to a rattle snake. We also had a reptile "expert" that turned out to be an animal hoarder. Both of these cases were covered repeatedly by the media. So unfortunately the stereotype of "THAT CRAZY REPTILE GUY" has once again reared its ugly head. It is so unfortunate that the actions of these two people have influenced the communitys view of reptile enthusiests. It will take some time, but we seem to be slowly crawling back out from under our rocks.
